A phone with an 8MP camera with face and smile detection, fantastic music quality, 2.6" screen, Wi-Fi, aGPS, 3.5mm jack, stereo loudspeakers and bundled 8GB memory is hardly a mid-range one.

Your saying that Nokia is in a better position with their phone cause its smart! OOH SMARTPHONE! That whole issue is bust. Symbian is no less olden then the A200 platform. Not to mention the camera is worse and the audio isn't as on par with the W995. Up there just not as good. Not to mention I can see with the release of Yari a firmware update to get the new A200 on it. I would not fret. Only thing that N8 does better then the W995 is a digital kickstand but who the hell cares about that. |

Yes because they havent changed the software, all se are doing are pumping up the specs but not changing the software. |

It's not mid range when the Samsung Jet has a worse camera what's that 5MP?
It's not top of the range but until the next gen come out Pixon 12, Satio, LG's it is! It's no worse than some of the poor LG cameras over the years.
I would say at the moment it's came in entry at top range in place of C905 (a C902 effectively) and will drop to mid range in the coming months. |

Why change something that isn't broken? The interface is excellent as it already is. Arguably the best among feature phones.

The Nokia N86 is priced at Rs. 23,500 whereas the W995 is priced at Rs. 24,300. Considering the fact that the N86 has a few more features than the W995 and the fact that it is priced lower than the W995 makes it much better value. And remember that we haven't even considered the smartphone features of the N86, otherwise it becomes an even better deal. The W995 isn't as great value in comparison.

Verdict:
It was a tough battle. Both the opponents were equally well armed. For a moment, it even seemed that both are equally good and that no one stands above the other. But as the battle progressed, one opponent managed to hold its head high and eventually defeated the other and rose as the winner. The fact that the opponent gave a good fight is what makes the victory an even bigger accomplishment. In case you haven't counted the points and deduced the winner by now, then the winner is Nokia N86 8MP. Even without considering its smartphone abilities, the N86 still manages to edge ahead of the W995. That doesn't mean the W995 is a bad phone; neither is the N86 perfect. But the small differences count and it is through them that the N86 achieves this victory and not because it does something substantially better than the W995, nor is the W995 particularly flawed in any aspect. Both are good phones, but if you have to put your money on a multimedia phone in the range of 20-25K rupees, then the N86 is your best bet.

Hell yes. 10123 he is right. N86 while it could be scored higher is absolutely shit. This whole Smart/Dumb thing is shit. Both companies have a simple outdated platform just one is considered smart. |

Pros:
*Old Viewty has no Wi-fi new one has. Renoir has Wi-fi.
*New shell and design.
*Does 32GB memory cards.
Cons:
*LG Renoir has the xenon flash Smart only has the LED.
*Video recording only QVGA and Renoir MPEG4 + more frames.
Overall same phone.
LG Renoir cheaper as it's last years flash ship and there's a 12MP replacement. LG Viewty smart just another LG phone, entering top end as sales of Renoir have dropped.
W995 vs C905
Pro's
*W995 has 3.5mm jack.
*2"6 screen.
*Smaller.
*8GB memory card + speaker.
*Front call video camera.

*C905 has xenon flash W995 only has LED.
*Camera not as good.

LG Viewty Smart and W995 are both new but offer nothing new. Both have a higher price than the 2008 model it copies. LG may have a bigger screen ect.. but from a manufacturer/pricing plan you can see the entry level prices. Both these phones will drop in price sharp when 12MP replacements launch.

No, the LG Smart brings far more to the table, the brand sew cube interface which is the best interface out there and (arguabley) the same as the i-phone. |
