Eh? The P900 and the P910 were launched a full year apart, just like the P800 and the P900 before.
I don't believe there's anything wrong with the P990's hardware, they just need to get the software right - and since they largely have already in the M600 and W950, they're bound to apply the same fixes to the P990 soon. |

May or may be the case @boing.
the P990i came out before W950 and the hardware is vastly different, ie P990 is with the flip and camera and wifi. All these requires different firmware customisation. |

@bytes
The platform is still the same. If they have problem with basic functions on one model it will apply on the other family members as well. |

I updated the old firmware again and it seems like it's running a lot better. No shutdowns so far in the last 3 days. Although the memory leakage issue is still a problem. I was running messaging, contacts, and listening to music on my bluetooth headphone. I turned worldmate on and bang.....not enough memory and it shut my messaging and contacts down.
Does anyone know that maybe they have been constantly updating the old firmware to make things more stable? Is that possible? |

@ bytes - the M600 was out before the P990, and was every bit as buggy and memory-troubled to begin with, but the updates have improved it hugely. The hardware's really not a problem - the additional software support for things like Wifi and camera may be delaying/complicating the application of those same fixes on the P990, but that doesn't mean to say they can't be done. The underlying hardware and software platform is identical.
The M600 has a dual purpose Qwerty/number keypad that from a software POV is probably just as intensive to support as the P990's flip on/off.

Actually MS/Bungie is gonna make people pay for betatesting Halo 3

People have been paying to Beta test MS products since their inception why should we expect things to be any different now!!

They wont be updating the software on the sly using the same version number, but what i have noticed is that the OS is very detiorates after time, and thus when doing a reflash alot of the problems go away, until a few weeks of usage... |

Very amusing @Nitro Fan!
(If only....I was that ignorant )
I put the post up to show an aspect of the problem; namely that are obviously short of resources(testers) as far as UIQ is concerned, which is affecting their development of the OS, not to mention delaying firmware releases......
I wouldn't mind applying for the position myself; however, although I'm a certified UNIX administrator, and would love a chance to sort out UIQ/P990, I'm not a gradutate and therefore not eligible.......... |
