A little reminder:
LG Optimus G - No signs of 4.2
HTC One - Update is delayed, launched in Tawain today
It seems Sony is the only with full 4.2 deployment, please stop crapping.
Yes, Samsung is better. But second in the Android throne is Sony fortunately.
Samsung is better ? definitely not in every aspect. There is no single reason, samsung is better.
I never said Samsung is better in everything. It's only their phone updates. |

I'm still waiting for Android 4.2 to my Galaxy Note II, so I'm not sure Samsung is that much better with updates.
At least they are better than Sony when it comes to release new phones with newer firmware.
This thread has derailed.

So far the reaction to Honami's leaks have been so negative. Everyone is bashing it for huge bezels, high pixel count etc. Seems like people liked Z a lot more. It seems to be a flop before it even gets announced.

Guys on SonyAlphaRumors, Xperiablog, phonearena and some random other websites are dissapointed. You can read their comments yourself. |

Public hasn't seen any "real" pics of Honami. What we saw were just some renders form a system dump and some pics of a proto covered in a protective case. So just wait till the device gets officially announced.

Seriously why fuss over other's negative opinion? besides Honami still hasn't shown it's true form yet, all these XR5/4 speculations will remain speculations until we saw the device officially. from there all sheeps can blindly praise everything about it while bashers can scrutinize all its negative traits and spread the message throughout the world. besides I find Esato user community to be a much informed and matured folks for not arguing about something they've barely seen completely. let the phone speak for itself, as for me I'd rather put my worries about the real life performance after it's been launched than to try acting like Einstein and slam the device's capabilities without having seen the picture completely.

Lol guys, I must be imune against negative comments I did not see any.
The new jpeg engine seems very good, although I would like to see some red to see if it is saturated like xperia A.
Megapixel count: I was the first to ask for a small count, and if possible a 16:9 sensor, but look, Sony does what they have know-how about, and BSI sounds like this sensor will be a real beast, some people compare it to the rx100 v1, even if it is just close to it, what a progress over usual phones (my reference is iphone)!
Anyway I don't see the point of complaining before the device is here.
Interesting info, iphone could launch in September on the 20, maybe an epic battle for Sony while Samsung will be crossing fingers Note3 gets back customers that ignore galaxy s4: wishfull thinking.

Otherwise, two more days to go before Paris, my guess is a fat Xperia ZU with enhanced camera and potentially sound, which would make the choice between ZU and Honami harder.
Ramu, all, c'mon let's take some risks, what is your guess for Paris?

What about the rumoured ray 3? If it will be the small Honami then I'm actually much more interested in that, it's like Honami is c905 then ray 3 will be c901 I guess it relies on how good Honami will be when it is released then we can get a good idea on how ray 3 will perform. Hopefully none will disappoint, in Kaz we trust:

That's quite a poor excuse if we think about phones. If a Chinese manufacturer's CEO would say this, I would accept it, but not from Sony. Related also to mobile phones, than how could Nokia make marginally the perfect cameraphone if they even aren't in camera business, considering that Nokia also has financial difficulties.

Chinese tech company are heavily backed by government money (loans, subsidies, guarante backed by gov, tax cuts...) while Sony is much more market based.

I'd think it's actually the Honami coming out on Thurs. It doesn't make much sense to me that Sony would like to so soon release a variant to Xperia ZU, since that would certainly impact the sales of ZU if, as you speculated, the new one were simply better than the original except a trivial increase of thickness.

Me and you are currently discussing what is being discussed.
Seriously though, if so many rumours have turned out to be correct so far, anyone pessimistic about the camera is either so shocked that Sony have merged technologies (finally) and can't believe it out of secret hope, or is just trolling. Explanations about the supposedly large bezel have been already given.
A relatively thin phone with a relatively large sensor and battery generally requires a larger bezel.
Next year, when a similar sensor comes with a larger battery and virtually no bezel, people will complain about thickness.
You can't please everyone. |

my ninja, perhaps you have pricing info you'd care to share to support your claim that the price difference in negligible. Everything I've heard to date suggests internal memory is very expensive. Again, it makes sense to think that when you look at the prices of things like SSDs. If you have info or links supporting your argument about the price, please post them.
I can only find a chinese report, short of ordering directly from samsungsemi for the chips that I listed. China Flash Market Not much direct pricing information merely trends in the market for the last year or so, with volume expectations as well. logically, having 2GB of ram and you dont bat an eye but 16GB of storage, and you bristle at more because of cost, one is more expensive than the other..

IMO there has always been a slew of leaks before an actual announcement, which is why I wouldn't rule out Honami just yet but then again, Ramu knows better than me.
Isn't it a bit too early for a Xperia Z refresh? They might bump up the specs to take advantage of the new faster processor but it might piss off a lot of Xperia Z late adopters.
Another version of the Xperia Ultra? But how or why would it be different from the one that has just been announced? A 8" screen version? A non waterproof version like Z => ZL?
It could be a secret device that no-one yet knows about yet. Sony has dropped completely unexpected devices on us before, so I wouldn't rule that out either.
