sd cards are more expensive to implement (meaning that 128 cards dont exist and are generally too slow for their size (10MB/s for 128GB...)), trust me sandisk and samsung have smaller extremely fast nand flash chips with larger storage for years, samsung announces chips every year that either double the capacity or increase the bandwidth (The new memory solution has a random write speed of 2,000 IOPS (input/output per second) and a random read speed of 5,000 IOPS. In addition, sequential read and write speeds are 260 megabytes per second (MB/s) and 50MB/s respectively, which is up to 10 times faster than a class 10 external memory card that reads at 24MB/s and writes at 12MB/s, greatly enhancing the smoothness of multitasking on mobile gadgets
). i dont think that you all grasp the depth of the stagnation of internal storage and thats fine, its importance is different for different customers. im just saying the person who wants less storage has no reason to complain having more space for a negligible diff in cost that for this specific kind of user is wholly depending on carriers to subsidize anyway, so that argument is essentially moot..
sd != nand..
again the rationalization that "its enough for me.." is a narrow way of viewing tech, it will only take one company that pushes internal storage for the rest to play along.
i am very happy that theres a honami "L" we will have to wait and see however how true this assumption is though..

Well, hope they do include waterproof on the L version, and making the difference only for camera and maybe some not that awesome features that Honami will feature, I mean, the L version is meant for different markets than Honami is, such as Z/ZL was, having waterproof will defetively be a huge feature to Honami L version, since America(not the country, the whole continent) doenst have a phone with tuat feature, if Sony wants to get bigger here, waterproofing their version to this side of the planet will defetively make the difference among all the competitors here |

my ninja, perhaps you have pricing info you'd care to share to support your claim that the price difference in negligible. Everything I've heard to date suggests internal memory is very expensive. Again, it makes sense to think that when you look at the prices of things like SSDs. If you have info or links supporting your argument about the price, please post them. |

afaik XZ and XZL are available throughout north america.. at the very least.. the US, it definitely is.
seriously guys.. give it a rest with the internal memory debate. sony will do what maximizes its margins while satisfying consumers. again, it's pure preference as to which you'd prefer.

rumour says T-Mobile should have XZ available on July 14. that is less than 1Q from Honami launch. wonder if any carrier is going to get Honami and clash with T-Mobile's XZ sale. |

Sony can make the Honami L bit expensive than Honami and release only to americas. Basically, if Sony could cram all Honami's feature in a smaller package, it would gain more media attention and a better selling point.
In Canada, Sony phones such as TX and ZL are being marketed as compact phones. The sales are not that successful because these phones lack the punch and x-factor to compete against Samsung and HTC. Now, with great camera, waterproof, faster processor, better screen, dedicated audio chip, and great design like maia had mentioned, all crammed in a ZL body (probably a bit thicker), the Honami L is surely going to have an edge. Plus, it will surely beat Samsung S4 Active by mile.

Actually I may be wrong, but at least Brazil, Canada and US have no Z available till now
t mobile is gonna get the Z now, like after 6 months after the announcement amd s600 and s800 phones will probably be already available in not too much time
So again, it may not happen, but having a waterproof L version of Honami for america will be a very smart move from sony since we dont have any high end phone with this feature right now
They can different features such camera and other stuff that americans in general dont pay much attention to |

I honestly dont care that much if I dont have a supermegablasteruber camera. I'm fine with my XS camera and most people will surely do with a normal camera, people who really want badass camera just buy a dedicated camera to it, no need for it on a smartphone
Thickness isnt really a problem too, as long it isnt 15mm thick and heavy as hell, it will be surely adopted by many if that thickness is justified with waterproofing
I never saw anybody saing "look at my new iphone 5, is xx mm thinner, that you cant even see the diference than your old iphone 4s"
But I did see people jumping on ZL because it was far more confortable to handle with one hand than the galaxy s4 for exemple and even more because it was more compact too, as a lot of people see s4 too big
Now imagine that + waterproof phone
GS4 will have no chance against it

We are quite on the same page, Rick. But for me if I could have all of those feature, why not? The thickness has to be less that 11 mm, anything more than is quite uncomfortable to hold. |

yes i do agree,
I had k810 Cybershot ,and it was 13.5mm ,imagine if it is 5inch phone, surely it will be a Brick in your hand
Sony make all features in one phone ,not two phones, really confuses a lot ,If Zl type honami is waterproof, there is no point only makes sense we can assume L" honami may have thin bezel at the top and bottom |

Sure, but it can't cost too much neither, I talked to.a.Sony rep and asked why we didnt get it, he said that was because people weren't ready to pay for it, which I kinda agree, I mean, a phone can't coste more than 150 bucks on.a 3yr.contract, otherwise people will be scared and wont be buying it, or just get an iPhone instead
If Sony wants to grow on America to compete with HTC and.Samsung, they will have to make.something different yet awesome and accessible for normal people |
