Good afternoon, guys. Had a bit of a late night again, so didn't exactly get up too early this morning.
Was woken up by someone knocking on the front door. Ended up being a postal recorded delivery needing our pawprints for our Pom passports which had arrived. I handed in the EU/UK passport application paperwork at the local post office 9 days ago...
Suddenly felt like climbing in the car and driving down to Dover, taking a ferry over to Calais in France for a spot of sight-seeing and shopping and come back later in the evening... LOL, but we've got stuff planned for today, including a meal with the neighbours tonight. But it's gonna be very, very 'foreign' for us not having to worry about visas for Europe any more; gonna keep feeling like we've forgotten something or feel we're gonna be cross-questioned... it'll take a while to get used to this ' travelling freedom' methinks.

@ da brixsta and The Hobbster,
This was in one of the free London newspapers; check which place was rated first:

@ Hobbster,
The cheapest new P1i that I can get at the moment is from Mobilefun:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/14070.htm

304.95 at the mo. (approx R4300)

Or eBay, from about 270 when including postage prices.(approx R3800)
http://phones.search.ebay.co.[....]Z3QQsbrftogZ1QQsofocusZunknown

Will be contract for me though. I have the means to buy one cash, but in my situation that doesn't make much sense if I can wait a bit to get the phone included with a cheaper tariff in the coming months here. I spend enough on the motorbikes etc. and I'm trying to save, so I've (somehow) got to be more patient in the interim...

@ Gucci,
Um, that'll either be a Ducati or a Yamaha, as the latter are the producers of the R1. Sounds like you had a wild ride, but I hope your connection respects that machine; that amount of power between one's legs demands that. And he's 17? Hell, so he won't have a licence for it either until he goes for a big bike licence when he hits at least 18.
I hope his antics haven't put you off riding on a superbike permanently; riding pillion on one of those machines is not exactly fun, compared to being the rider getting the 'buzz' and in control of that high-powered machine.
Sorry if I sound like a fuddy-duddy; I'd just hate to hear that anything negative happens to him (or you) by him not exercising due care that such a superbike warrants.

@ Jojo,
Have a great weekend there too, mate.

@ Carkitter,
I think Hobbs summed it up quite well; we should meet your guys in the final, but France are so unpredictable; we'll hope that we do catch them on an 'off-day' of note.
I see the AB's have reverted to the older/other, (more traditional?) form of the Haka, not the one that they've adopted over the past 2 years or so. I see Doug Howlett's also recently signed up to play in Europe too.

@ da brixsta,
Mike Catt was indeed in that '95 world cup, but he'll always be remembered for his rather brief encounter with a certain juggernaut known to millions as Jonah Lomu..:

@GUCCI,i'm actually a vodacom subscriber,i only use the mtn sim when their gprs is free....which brings me to brix's answer-mtn's gprs occasionally becomes free for a certain period of time, its been doing this for quite some time now,i'm not sure why...so i dont think its intentional.

108-13. The All Blacks, as expected, make mincemeat of Portugal. Oh well, at least Portugal scored a try and drop-goal against the mighty AB's.

Also, Sri Lanka are looking in ominously top form in the Twenty20 world cup at the mo..

@gola: So it's basically a shot in the dark, a piss in the wind
Weird discovery this evening, I'm fiddling around with FExplorer when I noted that somewhere in the system folder old installation files could still be found. The applications had been deleted sometime ago.
PS: Regular readers of this thread would know that I got a new phone recently...I had the data on my previous phone backed up which explains my discovery.

@ Jojo,
Nah mate, they're virtually all liquid-cooled nowadays. I think that the latest trend is to actually expose part of the engine details and engineering between radical bodywork lines, plus there's a little weight-saving to be had. (critical in the all-important superbike power-to-weight ratio specs-wars between the manufacturers.)
One other aspect is to further aid cooling as much as possible with all the fairing vents etc, particularly with today's very high-performance engines.

All-enclosed bodywork has been done on bikes many times in the past as you know, but sometimes this is also taken too far that it makes the bike's styling far too bland. For example, Honda's original CBR600's all-enclosed bodywork led to the styling being nicknamed 'jelly mould' amongst the motorcycling fraternity, while Suzuki's GSX-F 600 and GSX-F 750 were somewhat also unaffectionately dubbed 'the teapot' as a result.

Some sad news. Colin McRae was killed in a helicopter crash earlier. RIP.

Colin McRae, now there's a legend! Thanx for the link Wanqa.

Brix, sometimes remnants of deleted apps remain, depending on how you deleted the apps. If you use Manager it usually removes an app lock stock and barrel, whereas if you delete it using a file management app, bits and pieces sometimes remain behind which tend to clutter up the C drive. I use AppMan to find those bits and pieces, since Manager doesn't always allow certain apps to be deleted. Wouldn't be a bad idea to back up and format every now and then either...
I'm not superstitious, merely mildly stitious.
