good grief with the bezel argument again.

all you really need to know is whether you like how it looks. YES? buy it. NO? don't buy it.

as proven mathematically the ratios are similar to other successful devices on the market and no one complains about those bezels.. hmm why is that?

also, as discussed, just a render. the real deal may be very different indeed.

The squarish design of the Xperia Z makes the bezels look huge and the device itself looks like a brick.

The Xperia ZL used the same design language but because of its small bezels it looked way more sexy.

If you don't want to hear people complaining about bezels, then don't read the comments at xperia blog. The iphone has even larger bezels and no one is complaining.

My question is, where will this model sit in the lineup? if i will be above the x performance then sure why not, but then price wise it will be too expensive. Otherwise if it is supposed to be similar to the X perf in price and position then what happened to the 1 flagship per year idea that was supposed to happen?

Will be interesting to see if the dual led will come with a brighter lens, perhaps f1.9 or f1.8., doubt it.

They are not complaining because there is no alternative for the Iphone. It's the only device that runs IOS. And since the home-button is a central interaction element of the device the Iphone needs to have a slightly bigger bezel. You can be sure that the day the home-button becomes obsolete the Iphone will have a great body to display ratio.

^^ That's why iPhone's are so popular with the coffee shop crowd.

With the bezels argument, the omnibalance look and feel fills every millimetre in all 3 dimensions so it makes the front face seem bigger in comparison to the screen. The Samsungs and iPhones have larger radius edges on the front panel and the Samsung even has a curved top and bottom border all adding to the effect that the bezels look smaller and even feel smaller in the hand.

It is design trickery that anyone with a bit of design experience can tell you. Like the subtlety of font choice on a website it sets a emotion before the viewer realises they being influenced. Like wearing high heels will make legs look proportionately longer even if you know the wearer is wearing heels and take the fact into account.

Personally I welcome rounder edges like the Z3 had (I've not held the X yet so can't comment). It does feel a little more like a toy but is more comfortable to hold. The circumference lip that is present on the Z5 Premium is a little sharp in hand.

Nope still isnt the reason they have big bezels, look at the top of the iphone, whopping big bezel at the top all for a poor front camera, microphone and maybe sensor? No status LEDs in Apple phones ever which is a pity they need them to tell the user that the battery is so weak!

^ The thickness of the top bezel is due to symmetry of design. It would kinda look strange if the top bezel were way smaller than the bottom one.

Little over 3 weeks till IFA and we know virtually nothing about the new phones except a change in design and that's about it.

As nice as it'd be to get surprised during the conference, it's highly likely that we'll get leaks of everything in the day or two leading up to it. Seems to be the usual case with these things

According to the FCC a new device ( PY7-14784Z) will have a 2700mAh battery note sure if it's a new compact model or for the F8331
