Sigh... Oppo has copy sony qx lenses... Why...

I think this is where most of the compact camera makers (except the prideful canikon) would be heading by pretty soon, the QX-series is making so much noise even before its out. and there could be the possibility that Panasonic/Olympus and Fuji would follow suit.

We still don't have any idea about the that lens add-on, if it's designed and developed by any of the top 7 consumer camera brands (let me name them: Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus, Fujifilm and Ricoh(Pentax), then it could possibly do well, but if it's anything done by Samsung.. oh well judging by the lineart render, the QX100 has nothing to worry about(well the RX100 never had real competitions in the first place)

Z1 vs L1020 as tested by a pro photog

looks like the firmware really needs some updating. the daylight landscape photo is simply awful. it's nothing like the ones xperiablog.net posted for the samples with the latest firmware.

i was hoping that with a pro photographer doing the test, he would try to make the most out of the camera and not just compare them side by side according to settings. we all know how superior 1020's specs are so what we want to know is how the camera capabilities of both can be maximized. i was expecting the pro to try figuring out the best settings when going manual. but then again, something seems wrong with the software. he said the camera decides on its own even when he chose settings. i'm ignorant with cameras so i don't really understand how his situation was going.

Unsurprising. The phone with a 2x larger sensor and more granular manual settings, produces better images than the Z1. I will admit though, I was kind of hoping the Z1 would have better IQ than it does. Once again, the amazing sensor and optics are being let down by heavy-handed post-processing.

Pretty strange problem. At xperiablog photos from different firmwares I didn't saw any problem. Especially at 510 firmware. And now same old story... Xperiablog photos was truly awesome but now-not. Maybe it was fake..

Well got a chance to play with the Z1 today, not sure if it was a retail unit or a prototype, but it was at the Sony store and the sales rep had it near the front desk, and not hooked up to any cables so I was able to normally use it with no tether.

First of all, it has great build quality, it doesn't feel too light or too heavy, but noticeably more than my S2. The screen colours are amazing, and vibrant and punchy, I felt the screen was a lot more brighter than my S2.

Would have played with the camera more but was in a rush. Next for the viewing angles, mixed bag I will say, the viewing angles are better than the Z for sure, but they were slightly worse than my S2, but I wouldn't say the viewing angles are poor or anything to complain about, since the brightness of the screen will permit very good outside visibility. On my S2 I have quite a lot of problems with viewing outside since the screen is not bright enough, this will not be a problem for the Z1.

If anything I might decide to pull the trigger on the new Z1 next week or the week following next.

You don't know the firmware version he was using! Also, saying those pics were awful is way overblown. He also states that it's probably the best Android out there.

i'm sorry but that's my opinion. correction: i said "IS AWFUL." i was referring to a particular photo. it's a daylight shot and it's very noisy. it's nothing similar to the ones posted on xperiablog. maybe i'm just expecting too much but that landscape photo was so washed out. but who knows, it could be the desert sands and dusts floating.

i really hope someone here with photography skills can test the unit and show that it can really take photos better than what that guy was able to take.

indeed.. colors are much richer and POP on the Z1.. Note 3 seems to have much duller colors for AMOLED.. i'm shocked

Yeah I also saw a video comparison between Note3 and Z Ultra where Note screen look like LCD with whites leaking and making the screen unreadble and washed out while ZU screen look great. I never saw an Amoled look the same way compared to LCD panel... I guess it`s because of the camera shooting the video.

But have to agree that this video about Z1 look just amazing, even though not so natural colors.

It should be around 4x thicker with the hump, and around "10x" with the lens barrel retracted
