How much time does it take for firmware to update the Phone?
I have been running the update and it's in the "Updating Software" step for last 1.5 hrs. Is it normal? I read the Update Service manual and it says that normally it takes around 15-40 mins for the update depending upon the phone model and Internet speed. My internet connection speed is pretty slow.

I am fearing the worst that I have to abandon the update which might brick the phone. Can somebody let me know if this update duration is normal or something is wrong??

custom icons may "damage your phone". (that is if you use w960 or other icons packed to .sis - will not change all icons, only 4--5/9)

Well i see more and more people having problem with youtube over WiFi (since latest firmware), Updating issues etc.

I have used the update service on the g900 several times both at home and work and never took more than 10 mins.

Hi guys. Just got my G900 yesterday. The two volume buttons on the right hand side of my G900 seems to not be working. When I press either one or both, nothing happens...the volume of the song I'm playing doesn't change, there's no 'volume bar' that appears on screen....absolutely nothing! The only way I can change the volume of the songs I'm playing is thru the status bar and moving the on-screen sliders...a bit troublesome .

So, has anyone encountered this isssue before and if so...what is the solution? I'm planning to bring back the phone to the shop soon, have it checked. And also, WHAT, if anything, is supposed to appear on screen when u press the volume buttons?

Any input would be appreciated! Thx!

well guys... seems like NOT only my G900 was "faulty" but quite many..
When you press the volume, all volumes should come up (SMS, Alarm, Media, ring). Try restarting the phone, if it doesn't work, change it. And reply with what did you do (working/got new one).

When i press the volume key the volume panel shows up and the multimedia volume increases...

I can't see anything wrong with that!

I have the phone for 1 week, updated firmware and it froze twice while using so far.. it's not that buggy!

see the other reviews, will you???

and this coment, just makes me laugh:

sometimes, the same application opens with different speed. This usually happens after a reset.

This "reviewers" miss the fact the apps take longer to load when they are not on RAM??? Thatīs why they take more to load after a reset.

And all the problems they mention about the phone blocking alot: well...besides you, i donīt see people here saying they phone blocks itself alot.

BUT you see that not only 1 or 3 phones are buggy, but alot. And believe me, it's not that store i buy from. Ares, do you own a G900?? If not, then shhhhhh.. i see you have P1i (a very good phone, i would trade my G900 any time for it), so don't comment the G900 unless you have one, and you can "torture" it 2h/day (net, call, etc).
Now did anyone else notice the "no youtube playback" issue over WiFi since the update?

need some help as I am new to Symbian phone.

I have been trying to install Java games but it doesn't run.

Java should run without hacks/mods. Just get the right applications/games (eg K800 compatible). What are you trying and doesn't work?

@norbi

I tried youtube(mobile version(3GP)) before the firmware update and it didn't work.

After the update i tried both mobile and desktop versions of youtube.. none works. After that I tried website with music/video streaming like imeem, myspace, etc nothing works!

Something is wrong with data streaming in this phone

regarding my G900's battery life, i just heard a good friend of mine saying that his N73 battery took about 3months worth of recharge/discharge to reach about 8-9days of working without a recharge... i'm looking forward to seeing my G900's battery 3months from now.

Well, I tried 2 games, think is the Bomberman & one more can't remember.
Then give up, anywhere I could get games for my G900.

By the way, read the review on the phonearena, really dissappointing to see such bad review abt the phone
