i have to agree with plankgtan - N95 music quality isnt that great - and before you say have you even tried it or not, i own one.
Anyway on topic - QVGA video is such a draw back with this phone - if it was VGA id have no problem buying it in October. I value my video so much since i bought an N95! But miss xenon flash terribly, and music quality (walkman headphones instead of standard SE ones), and prefer SEs design and UI. And speed of the camera is driving me mad on N95!!! Even the K850 looks much quicker to save pics on preview vids. |

@kewsvent,
There is no relation between censor size and length of focus imo. |

@ ajeetpv
thanx for ur reply
i was jus looking at dpreviews explanation of focal length
http://www.dpreview.com/learn[....]ry/Optical/Focal_Length_01.htm
to me it seems that if the focal length is short then the sensor size would have to be small as well unless its wide angle! |

The K850i has some deficits to balance out its abilities:
- The sound has been vastly improved. In earlier models, the volume was too low. This is not the case for this model.
- The touchkeys are something that you have to get used to. I haven't as of yet.
- I thought there would be activesync support, but obviously not in this fw (according to mobile-review)
- It's size. It feels a little too thick.

@prudent
you mean volume via headset or loud speaker? is loud speaker louder than, say, k800/k810, w810, p990??

I hope both - headset and loud speaker - will be louder than in K800i. |

Why is everyone talking about bluetooth in flight mode as a new thing???
I can do that with my K800 very well, I always listen to music via A2DP in the planes, with flight mode on.
Once you start down the path, forever will it dominate your destiny!!! |

The following Eldar's observation bothers me very much:
"The volume level of the K850i has much to do with the space between the speaker and your pocket or table – if there is some, it will sound as loud as the Sony Ericsson K790i/K800i. But if there isn’t, you will run into the issue of barely audible sound – the loudspeaker aperture can be easily covered, so the sound just won’t come out. Perhaps this is one of the most vital shortcomings of the handset".
Can i wake up in the morning, when space between loudspeaker and the table is missing? |

read eldar's review a few weeks back, and now i feel compelled to share my thoughts on the k850i. first thing, it's not the nicest looking phone out there is it? K series might be a cybershot line, not a fashion line, but that doesn't justify the fact that the phone itself looks odd. very half-baked design i think.
the redesigned UI and internals, it looks like SE is moving more towards nokia and vice-versa as eldar mentioned. this could be a good thing for some, but i honestly feel that SE is losing it's unique intuitiveness.
but the thing that strikes me the most is the lack of an auto-shutter. what is SE trying to achieve, using those actual cybershot camera buttons on the k850i? it's a phone, for chrissakes. active lens cover was a great innovation, but this to me is a step BACK from convergence. what would they think of next? SLR lenses? why not just stick a sony t100 at the back of the w880 and call it k1000 or something? pointless.
this is not one phone i'm looking forward to. |
