@ascariss - i actually like that they moved it away from the speaker grill. i think the notification is much brighter and easier to see when it's on its own than when it is in the speaker grill. the light is in the speaker on my Z1 and it is difficult to see sometimes without getting close to it whereas the notification on my Xperia S, is bright and lights up a whole dark room. very easy to see from far away. i'm glad they moved it.. but i guess this is based on personal preference
I can't get used to it on my Z3 tablet compact.
The renderings do not look that < 7mm, so if true it should look different. A june release gives hope for the IMX230 sensor but who knows. I still wonder why Sony feels to use that shitty little LED flash. My old S2 from samsung had one LED flash but it was at least 2x stronger.
Although pre-production, it seems the M9 heats up nicely, always could use a portable heater for the winter.

I think its about time that Sony started using a different f number as the Z1, Z2, Z3 were F/2.0 and I'm guessing the Z4 will be the same.
Give us F/1.8 please. |

I think there will be Z5 series this year. I think that's why there is confusion about display resolution. Z4 will be 1080p but Z5 2k. Just my thought no sources or such. Z4 will be something like Z3s. If I am lucky we'll see Z5 Bond/Ultra/Compact in september. |

^ Since the Z4 uses a completely new SoC (more time and money for development) I don't think that we will see a successor (Z5) that fast. You don't develop a new device just to sell it for 3 month (June-August). |

Well if released in May and Z5 in Late november it makes 6 months. I remember this from somewhere. Oh right past 2 years. |

If true then Z4 could be the only flagship of 2015 considering that even for Sony's release schedule a Z5 announcement in September-November timeframe sounds highly unlikely.
Regarding specs: Does it mean we'll see 2 versions of Z4 (1080p/2K)? Any info about battery or used camera sensor? Any progress in this department?
I heard the news of the Z5 will be released in 2016 CES. IFA couldn't have posted!! |

Announcement May and release is rumored for June. So if Sony keeps it real that would mean a December announcement. The second half flagship was always a upgrade of the first half flagship, not completely new (based on soc) development. So IF Sony decides to upgrade the Z4 in 2014 (unlikely according to Huiyi:CES-2016) then it would be just a upgrade version to the Z4. Which means no new cpu (No SD820) or sensor. |

Z series gets refined generation to generation. I like that now there is only one flap and that the magnetic charging port is gone. Small details makes the handset stand out of crowd, for those that they have the ability to understand.
Good job Sony. |

^^ There is no rule that indicates sony will upgrade sensor or whatever feature of z series in first half or second half but only chances of prediction. huyi just said most likely no main flag for ifa announcement (in other words). i think it is a good thing. sony needs to refresh their strategy for more then half a year of main flag to shake things up so ces or even better - mwc (a mobile event) is a reasonable decision. think about it, if sony announce main, compact, ultra, tablet compact - 4 devices - all at ifa then they would reveal almost all their cards (aside of the big tablet) and that is not very smart move. you want to make a buzz in different events through out the year. every manufacturer does that. so we can expect the next compact, ultra and tablet compact for ifa. based on huyi's info.

I'm wondering if USB is the only charging option, now that magnetic charging has been removed, or is wireless charging going to take its place.
