@randomuser
Please tell me that this is because of it being slightly modified to make it even better with the release still expected in the same time frame...
I really, really don't want to see the 2H flagship with a MSM8974...ST-E have a beast...

About ST-E being slow...
The a9600 with integrated LTE should be the best chip of 2013. If the 2H Sony flagship uses it, I'll want it, lol.
If the a15 exynos is quad...Then there will be problems. But I think it would drain too much battery...
A9600 is off the ST-Ericsson website. So perhaps we will never see a phone with A9600.
It has never been on their website, just a press release, so it's not like it has been cancelled or anything |

Apparently it was on their website earlier but was removed last month or so.
@aurelius
Let us know what's happening with A9600.

zomgbbqftw gave this is info on Neogaf forum... Are those the rumored specs of 6" phablet & Q4 flagship...???
"I don't think HTC are going to be competitive with Sony in 2013. They are really struggling to get a hit product out, and if they are going to release the M7 as it currently is in Europe they will be destroyed by Sony as it is much, much larger and has a worse battery than Odin.
As a side note, I pitched my naming convention to a friend of mine at Sony Mobile, he is going to take it to management because it makes much more sense than their current naming scheme.
Xperia 4 - 720p ~360PPI, 12MP, MSM8960T, 1.5GB, microSD, 16GB, 1800mAh
Xperia 5 - 1080p 440PPI, 13MP, APQ8064, LTE, 2GB, microSD, 32GB, 2400mAh
Xperia 5R - 1080p 440PPI, 13MP, APQ8064, LTE, 2GB, microSD, 32GB, 2800mAh, water resistant IP57
Xperia 6 - 1080p ~370PPI, 13MP, APQ8064, LTE, 3GB, microSD, 32GB, 3500mAh
That is what the rumours point to and if they use the naming scheme I passed on to my friend then that is what the Q1/2 Sony mobile line up looks like at the top end.
I have a Q4 rumour to share as well:
5" 1080p, quad core A15, 3GB, 3000mAh, 16MP, around the same size of Yuga, no IP57.
Still early design phase though, so the specs can change at any point between now and October."... |

Well that rules out 9600 at least for the q4 flagship. Probably a qualcomm soc |

Interesting though, water resistance is a first consideration for my next handset.
Xperia 4 sound like Dogo with 360 ppi, screen may only keep 4 inches at a bay.

Qualcomm is not A15, it is custom design.
Tegra 4 (Wayne) will be A15.
Processor: Quad ARM Cortex-A15 MPCore + low power companion core

3gb RAM...3000mAh battery...16mp camera (which I hope will produce less noise than the 13mp of 1H 2013, not what happened with S/P, 12vs8 with less noise)...
Quad a15? Sounds like tegra 4 to me...not the most developer friendly. I hope Sony don't use that...
I still hope it's the a9600 with integrated LTE.
As said though, the specs can change a lot for the 2H flagship from now...
I don't see the Odin/Yuga getting old, let alone the 2H flagship...
Will the screen type change? I know OLED has been said, but if Sony don't use an OLED, will it be a better LCD than Yuga/Odin?

@HxH Actually Xperia 4 doesn't seem like Dogo... Cos in his previous post zomgbbqftw had mentioned that 4" handset as the successor of Xperia P not Dogo... Cos according to the rumors Dogo has 4.65" screen with 720p display... So it'll have 316 ppi not 360ppi... Also Dogo has APQ8064 quad-core chip-set as Yuga/Odin with dust & waterproof, 2GB RAM & 2000+mAh battery (According to the rumors), I guess...

XPERIA 4 = DOGO (316PPI is correct + 1,5GB RAM confirms again)
XPERIA 5 = ODIN
XPERIA 5R = YUGA
XPERIA 6 = 6" PHABLET
This information confirms RaMu's rumours.

I doubt that Sony will use that naming convention to their Xperia lines
We already have the Xperia E/E dual for 2013, I believe that Sony will sticks with the normal Alphabet name rather than those numbers

I agree, and we do not want another change in naming scheme.
2010 -> X(numbers)
2011 -> Names
2012 -> Letters
And sony will have so many different devices with the same screen, for example S, acroHD, V.
I prefer the names, though, as it distinguish the phones properly.

Excited about those rumoured specs by zomgbbqftw. I really do want to consider the 6" phablet... I just hope they don't make us wait too long after Odin/Yuga for it to make an appearance.
