I dont think P5 is te p990 successor, it got no flip. And i hope P5 will be out before 2009.
But i guess it's true, the p990 successor will be out late 2008 - early 2009, and this mdel will have a flip..ehh Im losing my point, i hope you get shat I mean....

Eldar talks about SE touchscreen phones from 12:28 to 12:48 of the podcast.
He clearly says the first device will be announced in the end of 2007 and out in end of Q1/beginning of Q2, and the second touchscreen device will be out in the beginning of 2009. Earlier in the podcast he said the device which will be announced this year will be the iPhone competitor.
So there are three possible situations:
1. First device - iPhone competitor(Maria) announced by the end of the year. Second device - P990i successor(P5i) - the one which won't be ready till late 2008/early 2009.
2. Maybe Eldar refers to P5i as "iPhone competitor", which isn't very correct IMO. P5i won't be "iPhone competitor", but more "iPhone overkiller". But if thats the case, the second device is a P5i update or "iPhone2 competitor".
3. Maybe P5i and Maria are one and the same device. P5i with the new UIQ will be a strong multimedia phone so thats possible.
So I thought the first possible situation is far more possible than the others, but now I am thinking again. December,12 is when Eldar said there will be an announcement. Please send me a PM with his exact words(in Russian,please).

Apple must just add some hsdpa/hsupa chips and some better lenses. And if they fit iphone (v 1.0) SE and Nokia can just wave goodbye.

But seriously my friend @icaka i thing that the P5i has nothing to do with iphone.
The letter "i" is competing the word "walkman" . The battle in mobile-phone area for sony and apple has just begun!

i think, 2,8" is too small to compete as killer. although "size doesnt matter" it should be bigger for a multimedia touch screen, espeacially if they are , maybe....using a Onscreen keyboard (i prefer a samsung F3oo type, good solution, long text with full keyboard, SMS via onscreen fullsized, with small text window)
i hope they put in a top notch battery in it. no trade off between standby/usabillity and battery dimension. i also hope they get inspired by the iPhone os °-°its great , beside the phone feature (several clicks just to get a numpad is to much, one klick numpad would have done it) |

if these Two (maria and P5i) where supposed to be a Duo then why delay P5 and keep maria
in my opinion until December we will be back to talk about how they "delayed "
maria too you'll see
i hope i will be wrong
but its unlikely that twins get born in a difference of a year then they will be brothers and not twins anymore
