@ Gucci,
Yeah I was half-expecting to see "The Hamster" behind that tractor's wheel. (Some kinda hair-brained bet that they were perhaps having, LOL).
If you look carefully, you'll see that there's also a scooter strapped to the back of the tractor itself... not an everyday sight. Strange...
@ The Hobbster,
Ya, the P900 has certainly served its master well.
Do you know that there's still only one network in the UK carrying the P1i? It's O2, who fortunately don't brand their phones. Recently labelled as taking Vodafone's number one spot, size-wise, in the UK.
Now I'm happy to get a O2 contract again, but somehow they and the UK's biggest cellphone chainstore, Carphone Warehouse, seem to be the only place that is stocking the thing...
What exclusivity n' monopolising skullduggery hath taken place?
I asked at Phones4U, the 2nd largest cellphone chainstore, and they said they weren't even sure when they'd be getting them...
Now then, all the other networks brand their phones...is this possibly one of the reasons for such a delay? If SA's Vodacom uses Vodafone branded handsets, then I'm wondering when it'll be commercially available, 'cos Vodafone here have got zilch at the moment...
Unless one gets them sim-free/cash of course, from independent cellphone retailers.
Wonder what MTN et al are doing about the P1i, or if they've got a definite availability date. There might be the odd P1i around, bought cash etc, but are there actual network branded ones out there yet? Now I despise branding with a passion, but I'm just trying to figure out what's happening in the market place with this handset...
So at this stage, there's no competition or reason for O2 to offer a better deal on the P1i; they're currently riding the crest of their exclusivity wave, and making the most of it..

Been around a couple of cellphone shops and haven't seen any signs of the P1i. Walkman phones are being heavily promoted with the W880 one of the more popular phones.

lol @ Ama,realy is strange, yes i just noticed the motorbike only now lol, just one of those odd and weird thngs.
i wonder why the P1 is exclusively with o2? Didnt SE learn their lesson with the W900 being exclusively sold by Vodafone? That was a big disaster though, P1 seems to be doing well since its at a good price, im sure MTN will get it 1st then,i realy do hate this whole deal between Vodacom and Vodafone,

Hello guys, another quick visit....
Right, it was end of last year, I believe, when Vodafony nominated their 3 smartphone OSs, which they would support for the next 3/5 years......
The winners:
Windows Mobile
Linux(even though they've not yet since marketed ONE Linux device, lol)
S60
This was after the 'problems' with the then new UIQ devices.....yup, they bottled it.......
(Maybe if they hadn't tried stuffing them with extra branded firmware, they wouldn't have had some much grief, but of course, they are the law....as far as they're concerned )
Hope that's enlightened y'all!
And Wanqa, as always friend, the 900 doesn't stop surprising people, even 3 years on........mine goes nowhere, just sits here(with P910 firmware, of course ), reminding me of how RIGHT can build a smartphone........when they can be bothered, that is!

@ Aware,
Ah, cheers for that matey. That explains The Big Red One's spurning of the P1i.
Hell, I guess that shows one how much must've horlicksed things that they've deemed a 'potential' Linux-powered handset/s to take preference over UIQ...
Personally, I'm not too bothered about Vodafone omitting the P1i (they're my least favoured UK network), but I hope T-Mobile (with their attractive Web n' Walk stuff) et al don't follow suit..
Yeah the P900 remains my most reliable and stable handset that I've owned to date. (Bought it in April 2004.) The very thin plastic around the display has cracked and broken away, where the flip keypad rests. It's the second housing I've had on the phone; the original did the same thing. Apart from that, it's still in one piece after nearly 3 and a half years of service.

Hobbs, read my sig! Then read the T650 discussion from P.19 onward....
Yes, I was extremely fortunate to obtain a T650 PROTOTYPE back in June, with which I enlightened Esatonians, and quite a few others! I could have sold it immediately for a small fortune(had multiple offers of 500+).......but a) I'd have just kicked myself until launch, and b) I felt I should give something back to Esato for making me so welcome in 12 months! Hence I/we hosted the first unboxing pics, which were spuriously stolen by many(Maximus from JUSTAMP, for example)!
And it's sat here now, my awesome 'evening' companion to my P990.......
.....which is a good lead to this point: the first UIQ 3 phones were developed in the Symbian labs, under Nokia's watchful eye(they own Symbian)......and I think, since bought UIQ outright, their next gen(Symbian9.3/+) devices will be a vast improvement over these first-gen ones, purely beacuse they're no longer being watched by their main competitor........
But as I said in the first place, it was as much the networks' fault for branding handsets, as it was SEs for under-speccing them...... :roll
And I know what you mean @Ama.......my 905(to use it's nickname)'s front panel is shattered too, in fact, that's how I got a P900 for a tenner......just had to change the shattered screen for a working one, the rest is history.......

A tenner... what bloody luck.
As Hobbs and I were commenting recently, that T650i in green looks the dog's wotsits. Love it.
Nokia 8600 Luna as a 'fashion phone'? Forget it; make my next non-smartphone a green T650i.
I'm half-expecting mario2004 (aka Darth Mario of The Dark Side), who has an (in)vested interest in The S60 Sith Lords, to manifest in here soon and re-iterate the evils of UIQ. Oh, and mention Nokia's growing market share and recent share price rise...

Hobbster, I showed her pics of the new K770i, not the faecal brown one, but the purple one with the chrome keys. That's her mind made up. The sliding cam lens cover is a nice touch as well, particularly when it's got to reside in a handbag for a good deal of the time.
It's due to be available in October, so not too long to wait. Just hope they'll stock both colours and not just that...brown.
