Another cellphone-documentary from Wanqa's Travels LOL. Lotsa pics. If you've got a 56k connection, you may wish to go make yourself some coffee or something and then come back to the PC.. LOL.

Sight-seeing with the N73. HMS Belfast was a cruiser-class warship (just under battleship class) which served in WW2 and The Korean War. It is a floating museum along the Thames now. They're busy restoring it in stages.

40mm AA Bofors cannons. Tower Bridge in the background, City Hall (helmet-looking building) to the right.

Cannon shells visible in this shot.

View from the Admiral's seat.. London Bridge in the distance, and St. Paul's to the right in the far distance:

...and from the captain's seat on the 'bridge':

One of the shell hoists feeding one of the 4 main turrets:

In the belly of the beast...engine room:

Boiler room: Yes we all bumped our heads at some point while we were clammering around these nether regions.

@ Hobbster,
Thanks boet. If any of you guys ever come over here on holiday or whatever and need a place to stay, just let us know a week or two beforehand.
We're within the London underground train network (albeit the outskirts/Zone 6) and we do what we can to help out.

Saw this on www.theregister.co.uk :

'Telecel Zimbabwe to lose its licence
Has Mugabe run out of farms to grab?

The Zimbabwe government is revoking the license of one of the country's cellphone operators claiming the firm has not done enough to expand its roster of local shareholders.

The move will further restrict communications in the troubled African country.

Telecel Zimbabwe company is 60 per cent owned by Orascom Telecom, based in Egypt, with the remaining 40 per cent owned by the Empowerment Corporation, a company set up to promote indigenous ownership. The Empowerment Corporation has the right to buy another 11 per cent of Telecel, but it doesn't have the money, so Telecel remains in majority foreign ownership.

There are reports that two local businessmen have bought 11 per cent of the company, which should have resolved the problem, but the licence has still been revoked in what is seen as an attempt by Leo Mugabe (who happens to be the nephew of Zimbabwe pres Robert) to take over the firm.

The company's couple-of-hundred-thousand subscribers have no idea what's going on. They are hoping their connections might be taken on by the state-owned Net*One, if Telecel is required to switch off its network, but it's more likely they'll just be left disconnected.

With the country's electrical infrastructure failing network connections are increasingly unreliable, but with each temporary disconnection Telecel subscribers aren't sure they'll be reconnected again.

Getting a cellular connection in Zimbabwe isn't just a matter of signing a contract, so current customers are very worried they'll end up losing communications entirely.'

Thanks gola.
I've bought an additional 1gig memory card for the N73 today, as we're off to Scotland again tomorrow and I don't want to end up regretting not having the additional memory capacity to hand while we're up there...

Will try post when possible from the long-suffering P900 over the next 5-6 days.

Ah, the Manfred von Richtofen (The Red Baron) story is an interesting one indeed Jojo, but one for another day.
Yeah I have an appreciation for the technology of warfare, but of course not war itself. So much has evolved, technology-wise, as a result of necessity when human conflict has pushed technological boundaries to entire new levels.
But don't worry, I'll be taking lots of flowers, buildings, castles and scenic landscape pictures to widen the Wanqa Photo portfolio further as we head up to Scotland for the next 5-6 days..
Actually, come to think of it, my photos in the Esato Photo Gallery are quite diverse; maybe I should include some pics of medieval WEAPONRY when we visit these castles and historical exhibits too..

Hmmm, yeah..a massive medieval catapult like the one at the ruins of Urquhart Castle along Loch Ness in the Highlands county in Scotland, or a big ol' battering ram taken with the N73's black-and-white effect should make some interesting pics indeed.

Well matey, it's that time again where I have to say nighty-night. Nearly 2am here and I'm doing a helluva lot of driving later, when I get up in about 4 hours time...

Have a great Thursday, mate.
G'night.

Eish, that's life boet, you win some, you lose some... However, if he hasn't shipped yet i can still pop around and "reason" with him Nah, just kidding I'd advise you to keep an eye on Bidorbuy though, very often sellers are quite willing to exchange instead of sell... I've done a few similar trades myself
