This is a joke.

Can't believe ppl is paying for something that are not fully approved by SE yet. When there are a new FW for this phone that are tested and ok it will be on SEUS, for free.

Have sent this thread to some friends at SE here in Sweden and they have had some good times as me to read posts from ppl that have bought this phone and also, paid to crash it with non public FW's.

I surely hope that ppl knows what void warranty means...

My first one crashed and wouldnt turn on before i had done anything to it. I'm not the only one too, if we weren't so worried about it doing it again we wouldnt be flashing our phones.

Hey Einstein thanks for the info but I think we can handle it for ourselves and if you had friends from SE they would know that the paid versions of F/W are the same ones on the SE servers.

I hope you know what pound sand means.......

hmm, i have been thinking that why it takes so long to put newFW out by SE. I maybe have pretty good reason for that,
so, There was this "rumor" going on where people sayd that new FW to K800i will be MR1( HUGE UPDATE) and FW
from wotan SURELY have not been huge, not even close?
Few people have noticed some fixes like DIFFERENT clock(lol) and camera improvement 0.1 ETC so, i think that there will come something big,
but that just my opinion.

where is this UPDATE where are 30pages change log etc..That update SURELY IS NOT available from wotan, that is something else.

Anyone agree with me?

Yeah, have read many posts from ppl here that surely have handle this by their self.

Yeah the F/W are the same, but as long they are not on SEUS they are handle as non public...

Call SE customer service and hear what they have to say about using wotan or any other service to upgrade the phones F/W that SE dosent support.

Many to most here are well aware of the pitfalls of using DaVinci, Wotan, etc..... and like most, I can say that we do not like being treated as babies. Your laughing SE friends are probably like my SE friends who also understand the want and desire to have their phones upgraded. Before you can talk down to the members of this forum and let alone this thread, you need to get a bit more credibility. Your points are noted now move along.

Everytime I upgrade my firmware I lose all my internet settings and email settings. Is there anyway to get these off the phone prior to upgrading ? I did R1ED001 and then again with EROM update yesterday.

Ok Same Pics with the New K800i

Could you kindly put these pics (and perhaps few more? ) on the internet, so the size and quality is original and without any logos on them? That would be much better for comparing the quality of the camera between the old and new fw.

Internet settings are a bit trickier to back up. I too wish there was a straightforward way to save these along with the custom dictionary.

It is at least easy enough to resend them from the Sony Ericsson website. And a program like MyPhoneExplorer will take care of all your other user data.

Well Good Afternoon to you all.

I have just been catching up with some of the comments that have recently been made.

ok Ill try to answer them all for you.

1st of all, The firmware that is on Wotan server is an approved version from SE. The company pays SE for the privlage of having the firmware so people can update first / Debrand the phone etc. the EROM update is to make the phone more stable and again is an approved version from SE.

2nd, People like my self who upgarde earlier are sort of like Testers for SE. We place our findings on here, How do you think SE and other companies know about most of there faults. SE do read threads like these and so do the mobile companies.

3rd. And i agree with people on here. You dont have to pay for it. I dont mind paying 7 Euros to upgrade early. If you dont want to pay then drive to a SE Service center who will do the update for free. However this will cost parking (If you have to pay) Petrol or a bus journey etc. also the phone will be ready the following day so thats another journey.

4th SE update service doesnt have to post anything for any of there mobile phones. They do this for the customers benefit and to try and keep them. Nokia have only just started there service.

Please dont shoot people on here. We are all trying to help each other out with our findings and hope to make a better phone and beat Nokias (Joke )

Service Centers have only just been given there update of the new firmware and erom in the last week, this is why SE update is still saying that the phone has the latest version and may continue to say it for a few more days yet.

arh and the other question of the 30 pages of faults.

Ok yes there is a current list, but this just doesnt cover the K800i. It covers all there latest versions of firmware relases of there current models and new ones waiting to be released.

Modifications / Updates / Possible Changes / Changes that are waiting to be done etc.

I hope ive answered everything.

Oh well back to work now.

Unfortunately I don't get my GSM WAP connection setup automatically. I have to remember which bits to fill in. There are some countries out there that don't have GPRS still.....

Upgrading the EROM, will you need to backup everything on your phone first? Or is there no need?

*EDIT*: There's actually no need...I connected to wotan and it told me straight away I needed to update I updated, removed battery, inserted again, and everything seems fine.

Can you confirm what you did regarding your EROM upgrade? I've already got R1ED001 on my k800i but want the EROM upgrade too (now free on Wotan by the way). However i don't want to reflash with R1ED001 following the EROM upgrade. Did you just upgrade EROM and not the firmware, and the phone booted up ok afterwards?
