Hi Tmag

Yes i have realised about the spell checker as i have started to learn about what the Bold will offer so that saves me $5.

@all

I also realise that 02 do have the best price plans but there speeds currently suck which defeats the purpose of having HSDPA. T-Mobiles speeds are also not as good either as i said once it is available i will of course see which Network offers the best value for the money but i would rather pay a little more and get full speed HSDPA then slightly less and get a reduced speed service but that's just my priorities and what suits me best.

But right now as i said i am 99.9% sure my next device will be the Bold and will even risk getting hit by customs again for a nice Vaja case for it.

I agree Marc, however my only concern is Voda is not value for money for data.

I like you would pay extra for something i need. In my case...unlimited data over speed

Might be worth testing out a Curve prior to the BOLD. If you going to amke the jump anyway...

Hi Tmag,

I had thought about it but the Bold is so close i really can't see the point, once the Bold is available i will speak to Voda though as there recent price changes have been good.

Currently i spend £35pm for 500 mins 120texts and 500mb of Data so if i can drop to £20 pm tariff with less minutes and texts but BIS E-Mail and 500mb of Data that will be good enough for my needs.

But 384kbps on 02 just is not worth it how ever cheap it may be and T-Mobile would need a Web N Walk and BB mail add ons plus a Felxt package so i think would still work out more than Voda. As i said i am really happy with the Voda service and customer care and if they can match or get close to the others prices will stick with them.

Hi all,

Well i just checked the VodaFone site and have found i can add Blackberry Internet and E-Mail for £5 or £10 if i don't already have a the Web bolt on which i actually think my plan includes. More details can be found here

http://online.vodafone.co.uk:[....]abel=template08&pageID=ME_0003

No my only question is do Voda mess with the devices firmware or not? and if they do from what i have read it shouldn't be to difficult to flash a generic firmware to it is that correct? and advisable.

All manufacturers out there own themes on, but don't mess the branding up at all-i actually gate to admit this, but the Voda theme is quiye nice! Reflashin BB's is a sinch and it's easy to upgrade your firmware at the same time by borrowing other networks as they release them-usually AT&T are the quickest for updates and are solid!

But if they dont mess with the firmware then there should be no need to flash it right?

Is that definate that they dont do that? I checked with Orange and they can add on a BB internet bundle for £8 which includes unlimited internet and data.

The upgrading of OS is actually only really for preference. They only iron out small bugs and on any OS for any network, you can unlcok the vendor themes which means you can have the same as everyone else.

I currently use the TIM Italy OS on my 8310 but have used many different OS.

I think its fair to say that BBs are pretty indestructable as far as upgrading etc.

The only concern for when the Bold comes out is that not many network will carry them initially and therefore there will only be one or two different OS that be used, but i doubt you would want to change it anyway.

Hi all

I believe his is John Bayer and his Tours are sponsored by Rim apparently he was also one of the first to have a Pearl to. I spoke to a supplier of Sim Free BB's toady and they are expecting the Bold in June wouldn't say when it June though with a price of £400+. So depending on when VodaFone get them i may well buy a Sim Free version and then use my upgrade for a P5 and sell that instead.
