Thanks. I'll look into it. Will probably still wait till the next FW update before loading any new apps into my unit though.

Agreed. If we wanna turn any forum into a battlefield, it should be one owned by SE. ^^; |

It won't be "necessary", once has swatted out all the bugs.

They could start with removing all game related software.
Also - a BIG help would be if they made the firmware from different selectable parts - so those of us that want a business phone can remove all features related to video/graphic/gaming... Then the memory should have it a bit more relaxed.
Removing all support for 3G for examle... where I'm located the 3G works bad anyway, to bad reception - just drains battery, so I have it turned off - and the mail pickup/sending I'm not noticing any real difference in speed between GPRS and 3G
I want a bug fixed flawless modularized (nice word) firmware....

We waited weeks for the arrival of wk48. Now that it is finally here, we are again waiting to see if the rumor is true. Waiting without knowing what to expect is really horrible. |

it has been a few more days now with this FW and yes it feels more stale does crash less. Actually it is more like I choose to restart to free more memory than it crashes by itself situation. But the thing most annoys me now is that it constantly shutsdown applications when it feels it has less memory left. So this makes you restart the applications all the time and especially if you work on the web with password entered pages keep logging again.
other than things are going well. and some users had asked me about transition before. I didnt know what they ment, now I understand definetly we need a way to disable this. It is uncessary slowness for our phone..
regarding an update on fw I asked and waiting for info |

Sorry but you just can not be taken seriously to remove functions would not make it a smart phone capable of all That's the whole point of it.
Also if you don't have 3G or a good 3G service that is bad for you, but to suggest removing 3G from the rest of us again wouldn't make the P990 very good or competitive with like products and the increase in using 3G over normal GPRS is so large it is impossible to take what you say seriously may not make much difference for E-mail but web browsing would be painfully slow.

Please, what are situations when you get applications shutdown? How many applications have you opened before it and what applications?
Thanks. |

1-Can you plz check if contact pictures and speed dial pics better (not pixeled ) or not
2-Zoom to full (aim at something a bit far) see if the auto focus working or just getting the picture blurry
Let see if they fixed small stuff instead of dealing with the Ram issue

I kind of use it for web and push mail too much I guess and I think this causes problems like the more you wonder in web the more memory it takes or same with push mail more mails comes etc.. so after sometime phone realises that it can not continue witht the free memory left so it shutsdown does apps. this would have been acceptable if the free memory level was set back to what it was before - after booting I mean - but instead it returns back to a state where you can see no apps running but still some memory lost somewhere and swiss doesnt help either so I endup restring to phone to improve free memory level.

Posted this in another thread, butfits here as well:
Maybe just coincidence.....the built-in SE task-manager on my P990 stopped working 2 days ago with no error message (no big deal thanks to SM Pro). But ever since I have NOT experienced any memory leak......phone has been up for 2 and a half days, still same amount of RAM altough same usage pattern as always.
Could it really be that the task manager is causing all those memory leaks???
Donīt want to restart the phone now........hope it stays like that for a while....

still the same issue... no much improvement i guess. Now it's not " the phone restarted in order to improve performance" .... now is " The phone you restarted to improve performance." lol... |

hi to all,
what is your judgment on audio quality of the p990i at low volume (during voice calls). Does it crackle a little bit? It is the case on mine (on some words when the other party starts pronouncing them) and it reminds to me the K750i before the associated f/w fix

hi,
i just visited the SE service center and i told them about the frequent restarts that i have been getting these days , even after a fresh update....
then the guy there told me give in the handset and they will do a fresh installation of the firmware,,,, this he said was about 110 mb size compared to the 60 or so MB size of the update that we do online;;;;\\\\\\
he told me that its fresh one and dint know the version number himself... he showed me another handset that was being updated......
does any one know the difference between the 2 updates..
i have to wait for another 2 days before i can visit the shop again and give in the handset;;;; |

@akdemiru
that's very discouraging. Looks like the new firmware failed to rectify the memory leakage issue. |
