@carkitter: I guess you're right, and I'd imagine smartphones will only get slower the longer you own them, just like my damn laptop! I would love to try out a fancy smartphone one day though... Maybe as my next phone! By the way, how goes the iPhone?
@RevoWution: Awesome, it'll be good to have you around. Where abouts in NZ are you based?
@Brad : Yeah there were a couple of others like Soane28 drops in every now and then, and we had Frankthetank and Dionasaurus around the time you joined too. They've buggered off though!

@Oli
I'm in Auckland. And yourself?
That is so true about laptops. For some reason mine's getting slower and slower lol... Every startup takes longer than the previous startup
So I'm guessing everyone here are SE fans? I converted to SE about 2 years ago, when I got my W810i Before that I had my Nokia 7210 for about 5 years.
I remember when I got the 7210. It was $1000NZD :|

@Oli
Hey enough of that man!
I'm here just been on a block course at MIT for 3 weeks WITHOUT a computer so have had to go on a forum diet....
Anyhoo I'm back, just in time for the October Photo Comp...
What's been happening? I'm well and truly over living out of a suitcase in Otara and very happy that I won't have to go again as that was the final training course of my apprenticeship
Oh and FYI carkitter: Otara also gets 3G+ coverage remarkably... Must be something to do with the hoodrats all rocking round listening to ringtones through their cellphone loudspeakers lol

@RevoWution: Another Aucklander! It probably says something about the rest of NZ... I mean, you guys have all the parallel importers and stuff, so the rest of NZ has to buy Vodafone's crappy Nokias cause they don't know about imports!
Yeah I'm an SE fan, but no fanboy as I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Samsung if SE flopped. I've always had SE phones though, ever since my T100 in 2003, and I had an Ericsson before that! I'm now on my 10th SE phone if you count the three V600is I had due to faults!
EDIT: By the way I'm from Christchurch.
@Frankthetank: I was only messing around. But seriously, that Dionasaurus really did bugger off didn't he?
Anyway, I look forward to seeing your entry into the October competition. You've got my Timezone toy picture to beat this month!
Just out of interest, does your K850i get 3G+ reception in Christchurch very often? I've seen the 'H' symbol (same thing) on my C902 twice now. But according to carkitter, quite often we have HSDPA reception even when the symbol only says 3G!

well Oliver, I find that if I turn my phone to 3G only (via my phone explorer) I can always get 3g coverage at my house, but if it is on GSM/3G I can only get 3g in half the house

Try downloading and running CCleaner, you'll be amazed how much unnecessary rubbish Windows accumulates. If that doesn't satisfy, try adding more RAM which is easier than it sounds. Check out my comments about my laptop upgrade a page or two back. For advice on RAM upgrade, check out the NZ PC Magazine September edition in your local library or online.
@frank
Thanks for the heads up about Otara. It's not a place I frequent but it doesn't surprise me to find that they have good data coverage. South Auckland is big on mobile downloads and R&B music. I've heard it said by Indsutry people that if the music industry didn't balance out sales with radio airplay, the national top 40 would be decided in Manukau city shopping centre on a Friday night!

The iPhone is OK. It truly is a love/hate relationship with such a beautiful UI and the novelty of touch input still not worn off nut as many limitations to deal with. You should get one because it really is a 'Mac in your pocket' and as a windows user it's just infuriating at times. Also the lack of modem and mass storage won't worry you at all. You should try this first before buying any other smartphone.
Me, I'm gonna convince the missus I reply need a G705a and the fact that she'll inherit the iPhone should help.

@Bradley: That's weird. I should try that I reckon. Might make some kinda difference...
@carkitter: Yeah I quite like the iPhone, but I do send quite a few PXTs, and I wouldn't wanna downgrade my camera so much! I'd probably wanna get what some people would call a proper smartphone.

I know what you mean, but spend some time with an iPhone and you'll find that it's a mature phone for mature (not old) people. After this, I'm afraid everything else feels cheap, nasty and toy-like. This is a very classy phone and I feel good owning it. I'm even learning to type fast on this virtual keyboard.

I did have a wee go on the iPhone at the Vodafone shop and I wasn't too impressed, but then I didn't go far into the menus or anything, and I didn't hold it cause it was attached to a dock. I'll have a look next time looking at phones, but as I say, the camera would be a huge let down to me.
Yeah Bradley, I'd love the X1. I just won't ever be able to afford one!
