pbhat, that was also one of the reasons I didn't pre order. Last year the first batch of Xperia S also had too many problems. So it's always better to wait a month or two.
As for the XDA post, exFIL had a retail unit with him since about 2-3 weeks and that had no washed out colors or any issues. But the retail units they received today have washed out displays. So even if at 50% brightness they are fine, it's still worse than the unti exFIL has and the Docomo units in Japan.

Hmmm... That is bad of Sony. They have a killer phone and they are wasting an opportunity for their way to the top. Now again I am raising my concern, Is Sony having different types of displays for different regions? Will India get a inferior display due to our market status?

According to this guy on XDA, the screens for both the NTT Docomo and international Z phones are the same, and the apparent difference in quality from the Japanese variants and international phones could be software based:

Mwhahaha, beat ya
Heh. Also, this random guy is claiming the Z for the USA will release with the S600 CPU, explaining delays in releasing it. I highly doubt this is true, but it would be amazing if the Z and/or ZL had this upgradeded hardware.

omg..... only a few second late
yeah, I highly doubt that the US version of Z would use the S600 chip set
but its still a good chance, cuz we haven't know about which carriers will pick this device in the US
Perhaps, they want to get the S600 chip to be in XZ before they start subsidizing and sell it in the US market?

from my view not amazing
what about those whom bought SONY pre-order from markets out side USA
they deserve more than to find them selves not in bar with a new lunched same model |

Other companies release phones with different hardware specs in different regions, so I don't see why Sony should be penalized for doing something like that... assuming that's what they're doing.

So Z wil be in a similar position to TX with some units apparently having a different screen and one of them being obviously better than the other?
Not good really. This is something they should pay more attention to and make sure if they are sing different suppliers then at least the quality is the same.
I have a dig bick You read that wrong |

Who knows. I highly doubt any Sony reps will directly answer questions about screen suppliers so unless we get someone with inside knowledge to clarify, or if we can get more phones tested like that guy on XDA did, we'll never know.
If his methods are good for telling the screen on the phone, I suppose using a larger sample of various phones would be the easiest way of determining if there are different screens at work here. |

sony is screwing up an amazing phone only for not to be clear with what type of screens are using. Exactly the same case with the first batches of Xperia S, or different screens of Xperia TX and V. Same old problems. |
