Well here in delhi we have these reliance webworlds...they provide net related services, they have a 512kbps broadband connection and actually manage to give speeds like 100kbps even with a decent crowd...pretty impressive!! If you wanna dl a 5mb mp3 on a 256kbps connection it would take approx take 14 min assumin you get speeds of 50kbps...you can however use some download manager to decrease the time by half.

Since we are discussing about speeds.. What is the maximum speed available while using bluetooth? Is my information correct that there are 2 versions of bluetooth? [addsig]

Bluetooth offers moderate speeds of about 700 kbps.

The proxy method is great for accessing internet through hutch GPRS connection. But it seems that the proxy places a lot of restrictions as far as certain p2p applications are concerned. Also it blocks most outbound and inbound connections to ports required by certain applications. Can anyone help as to how can i can avoid these restrictions posed by the proxy.thanks

I had been using this Hutch gprs proxy from last 1 year now. Got too much used to it, cant pay more than 100Rs any way any how. Surfong net @ 100 is a good feeling. This proxy prevents p2p softwares, other ftp clients etc... but i bypass all these, i have various tunneling softwares to work them out.
I use my Motorola E365 for gprs, it gives me download of 5k during day time, and even 10k (= 10 X 8= 80 KBPS) during night time. this is the fastest theoratical speed attainable on any mobile. My n6600 gives max speed of 7 or 8k only. I have worked in GSM companies but they confess that it cant be faster than 80 Kbps anyhow, I dont know how but my E365 provides even >80kbps during early mornings.
So, in short i have complete broadband at @ 100 with no restrictions at all.

this is my first post.firstly gprs speed on pc is not bluetooth or infrared dependent.secondly, using a phone modem u cant' cross da 42kbps barrier,so wheres' da question of 80 and 100kbps.phones having edge may deliver higher speeds.the main thing is EDGE in india is a complete hoax.n/w operators r cheating the customers.EDGE in india is only used for streaming purposes, theres' no chance of browsing speed getting better using edge.so,no more broadband thing using edge!edge technology may seem rosy though,in reality its a hoax.
in hutch(prepaid) u can still go for unlimited web gprs for rs.499/- attaining speeds of upto 12kbps.its called hutch access.i have a se t610.is it true that i cant' browse on my se t610 using hutch access?is it meant only for da pc thing?can i check my pop mail on se t610 using hutch access?cc guys of hutch say that v got to subscribe for hutch gprs also to do wap browsing.wat sort of looting is this?
visit my site www.kirankonathala.tk for more mobile hacks and masti!!

Hi

Is the Rs.100 gprs service still available in hutch for the delhi circle...cause i have not been able to access it since last 3 days.I just renewed my postpaid plan and i am able to use the gprs on my phone(only wap sites) but the internet seems to be giving 'HTTP 403' (access forbidden) error.earlier i was working quite fine.

Any delhi member please reply.

thanks

@kkiran...I think when people mention speeds of 80 or 100 kbps...
it may possibly be 80-100 kilobits per sec and not Kilobytes,
I personally access the web on my laptop, through my Airtel GPRS connection in Mumbai and get speeds of 10-12 KBps on a good day. On most days it averages about 6-8 KBps.I pay 199/- a month for unlimited usage on Airtel. Hutch or Orange in Mumbai is a total ripoff. They charge Rs 499 p.m but lay down a 100 MB limit. with a 50 paise charge for every 10 kb above that!!!
