@iamcrunchie & Atlis
Interesting information about improved compression on photos - I hadn't heard this mentioned before. Which firmware did you have immediately before you flashed R2AA?
Has anyone else noticed differences in camera quality, particularly those who upgraded from R2L?
If it looks like this is a possibility i'll add it to the K700 / K500 Firmware overview thread. |

Hi Mike and all,
so I have been using R2AA for a day or two and:
1. No difference in picture quality and compression coming from R2L
2. Battery performance kind of the same, 14 hours maximum (but I use it with HBH600 all the time, have between 1-2 hours of talk and more than 50 SMS per day)
All in all not too much difference between R2AA and R2L ecept for the quazi search function and some small polished details.
Wonder what R3A will bring?
Take care

Sorry for asking this, but i don't feel like browsing all these pages:
Is the terminator dongle compatible with TotalServer client software?
Thanks.

No. You need the T28 service cable to use Total Server. The terminator cable will not likely ever be compatible with the k700i (even though the connector type is the same)... at least that's what I heard posted from someone who is involved with DIV software development. |

Has anyone actually tried using Totalserver for update through DSS-20/25 yet? The website certainly indicates that it is possible:
"DSS-20/25 ... were tested by our team however we do not guarentee DSS-xx cable support"
It then goes and tells you how to use it:
"Select correct Buad Rate - 921600 for USB cable and 115200 for Serial Cable "
Where the USB cable speed is referring to DSS-20/25.
I would try it myself, but my broadband connection at home is currently unavailable (it is being moved from my old house to my new house!).
Mike

how come we pay more for a k700 cos its uspposedly better thn a k500, yet this cheaper model has better benchmark results thn the k700!!! surely this means the k500 is better at like games and stuff maybe thts why splinter cell 3d was released on the k500 insted!! u think maybe on the gaming side in terms of 3d, the k500 will be more concentrated on? surely the k700 should be better than the k500 in terms of java etc.. rahter than the other way around! |

You pay more for the K700i because of it's internal storage, bluetooth and other gubbins. In terms of "real world" performance I don't think you will notice a difference. You will be able to get Splinter Cell for the K700i. Just look at the tennis game, very complex java game and runs great on R2L and above firmware. Anything the K500 can run the K700 will have no problem running either! Don't buy into benchmark results too much, a slight difference isn't noticeable, as anyone who has run 3D Mark on their PC will tell you!
@ mwarner
They say they tested DSS-xx support but if they did why not tell everyone how they got it to function. I think they might have made it communicate with the phone but not actually update anything! Also that bulls**t about setting the baud rate to 921600 for USB, you cannot select that high a setting, the maximum for the DSS-2x is 128000 so heaven knows what they are on about!

vee:
what did you mean by "small polished details?" what are these details that are now evident in R2AA? is it worth the upgrade if i'm already using R2L? thanks. |

The tennis game is much faster on R2L, dunno about R2AA. You won't believe it's the same game, trust me! |

@ j4sp33d
if it is free it is always good to do the upgrade, but if you have to pay wait for something bigger (R3A)... There are no noticable user details except for Autosave on SIM and Search Phonebook...
Take care
