Before any of you swedes & norwegians run out and ruin yourselves on a dss for 6-800 SEK, check this out:

http://www.mytrendyphone.dk/shop/default.asp?ProductID=601

Dss-25 for 199 dkr (that would be 246.1 sek) ... shipping 19 dkr to sweden+norway... (when paying by visa)

Bad news is that they are on holiday and wont deliver untill 26/7...
Good news is that they deduct 10% if you order before 26/7... I just ordered one

Just tried it, was slow but loading.

However using the HK firmware i get the "Your operator does not approve the usage of this service for this device".

Damn it

My guess is its because the service is not officially launched yet.

I remember reading in another thread the newer firmware of R2E was available on EMMA, and upgrades were listed for all regions, including the vodaphone branded crap.

I'm on R2A, so it should have at least upgraded it to R2E, but its possible it only has the R2J revision, and only for European lanuages.

HAs anyone with the Hong Kong region firmware managed to update theirs using the online service?

Does anyone know if the online firmware update service will allow you to install a different language to the phone? All this talk of only being able to put the permitted software on your phone (eg. vodafone branding over vodafone branding) and the fact the the process is automatic makes me fear you won't get a choice of picking a different language pack.

I need to put italian on a UK O2 version K700i. Will this be possible?

From what my friend at Ericsson Lund has told me, each FW "flavor" eg. Vodafone swedish, Telia Go, Orange or whatever has a unique checksum, hence a branded phone will not accept generic FW.
I don´t know if the trick described elsewhere in the forum works (where you put an unbranded phone in the cradle, let the update tool detect it and when download of FW starts, exchange phone to a branded one)
I am not calling anyone a liar, but I would be very surprised if that really works.. I mean, try that with a computer motherboard BIOS flash and you´re most likely to have a "braindead" motherboard instead of a flashed one.
