I have had a problem with iSync until I upgraded to the latest version. Once I did, it was like a breath of fresh air. I have both a Z600 and a P900 and they both sync without any problems. Also, Panther is running quite stable and I have not experienced any major quirky problems. Bluetooth under Mac OS is muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh better by far than with Windows.

Check here for the differences.

Well, yes they are. I don't use them at home, I use them in my day job, making DVDs!

We should carry on this talk via PMs as its not SonyEricsson related at all!

Just a quick question to the Macheads here. After upgrading your P900 to R4B03, and or upgrading your Mac to Bluetooth udate 1.5, have any of you experienced problems with getting the Address book of the Mac to sync with the P900? I seem to be having a problem saying that it is not connected. I can send and recieve files all day long, but for some reason, it will not sync the address book. Any ideas.

Does the P800/900 have any issues with Mac connectivity? Sync problems? Random instances? Or known issues with certain FW and OS X versions?

Yup.

You will have problems if you are stupid like I was and forgot to install the bluetooth firmware update. It does not help to only download it. You have to also double click it and install it so that it can update the firmware. Once this is done, syncing with BT is a dream. Just one click and it is done.

i finally found a way of making the p900 addressbook.app compatible. theres a file on the following website that replaces the .plist file in the app. it allows you to see when someones calling, accept or reject an incoming call and dial out from the phone book. It still doesnt do sms in or out though. sigh.

http://chrismiles.info/mac/tips/addressbook_p900.html

i was thjinking this is handy for those with a bt handsfree but im confused. if the bt handsfree is being used on the mac and you recieve an incoming call is there anyway to switch to the phone?

A bit off topic here but......

I don't suppose anyone here can talk me through FTPing on a Mac OS 8.6 iMac could they?

I have the rj45 cable, I have the IP and password etc to my Xbox, I just can't seem to get anywhere. So many settings, File sharing/appletalk/web sharing/TCP/IP. They all have me confused.

Help me please!!!

@BOSSHOGG

it's pretty simple. If you have the IP of the box, pick a similar IP for your Mac, put it in your TCP/IP settings. Subnet mask should be the same. Router or DNS entries can be empty.
Next, get yourself a good FTP client for OS 8, like Fetch
But 2 things: A RJ45 is a phone cable, not a network cable!!!!! So, get some crossover (unless you have a hub somewhere) network cable, connect the 2 machines, and it should work.
But I have no idea if the XBox gives you access via FTP???
Much easier would be the upgrade to OS X, to get access to Windows shares without any other apps...

Thanks. It seems i had the right settings. Just not the x over cable, the guy changed it ok though and now i have full access to my xbox via transmit on my mac you can ftp to xbox if you're chipped and have the evolution x dashboard. Which i do sent a bunch of pics and mp3 in for xbox media player. Works great. Also copied my old save folders over from my old hd to my new 120gig )) had a few saves that weren't allowed to be copied to card. That was the way round. Thanks

how many mac users here use phoneagent?

is this a nice product and does it really do what pc-suite does on the PC?

i was thinking to buy it but wanted to make sure it works well.

also, any reason why SE does not have a Mac version of the PC-Suite. surely, there are plenty of mac users out there.

@SFA

It is quite simple. SE does not think that it is worth the time or effort to design a Mac version of the PC Suite. Also, in my opinion, the PC Suite was and is a piece of bloatware that sometimes did or did not function well. If SE can finally get their act correct and fix the connectivity problem that they have, then iSync will be a winner for sure. Windoze users should be so lucky.

@sfaguy

I use PhoneAgent and registered it literally minutes after downloading it!

It really is a one-stop shop for everything you could want to do with a T610, T630, Z600 etc. I can't think of anything it can't do really. It's still the only way of making themes on a Mac (except manually). I use it regularly for backing up SMSs.

The developer is also very quick to respond to bugs and feature requests.

I think part of the reason SE don't make any Mac software is that the market is too small for them to invest in, plus they apparently have a very good working relationship with Apple, so it makes sense for them to 'assist' Apple when needed in getting support for SE phones built in to the OS.

To be honest after seeing some of the software for syncing etc. that Windows users have to put up with, I think us Mac users have it good with iSync.

I hate to think what kind of ugly monstrosity of a port SE would come up with! I doubt if it would be anything like as simple, elegant and functional as iSync.

JoolsG3,

Sounds like a nice product. Unfortunately, it MacMedia informs me it does not support P900.

Are there any programs out there for P900????

one other question... a friend of mine has T610 and he uses iSync for it. Does iSync work with P900??

sfaguy,

Yes. I have a P900 and a Z600 and the Z600 works perfectly. However the P900 has a few problems with iSync but you can get around them and get iSync to work.

go to:http://discussions.info.apple.com/.599cf152/364 to get an idea about iSync and the P900.
