I am not able to upgrade the f/w... it says "Many users are using the Sony Ericsson Update Service. Please try again later ." What the @*#%....
Woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep............

@ Paleaos...

Phone flashing is a touchy subject on this forum.. You must remember that you are at risk when you go around your carrier's terms and conditions.. I personally have the tools to perform the upgrades myself, however, the latest firmware log is all that is needed.. If you were to simply flash your unit right now with a generic SE firmware I believe you might be able to flash this latest online update firmware.. However, you would be placing your Orange warranty in jeopardy.

@....

I believe your connection speed has some factor into the error msg you are getting.. Slow connections usually gets kicked... T1 + is preffered.. Anything slower may be subjected to server booting...

@Bigfeat

I Know where your coming from, but with regards to my previous post, I was not refering to those places you can go to have your phone unlocked or flashed with a non authorised firmware, but an actual SE service agent here in Birmingham.

I know of the tools to which you refer to, but, yes I have the cable and am aware of the software and logs you refer to, but never had the guts to attempt it with my previous SE phones, and probably wouldn't with my shiny new P900.... I would be surprised anyway if it can be done yet, but no doubt you'll correct me on that one and probably know of places with the facility already. I suppose at the end of the day it's not that much different to the P800 which as been available for a long time.

Regards

@Paleaos

SE service center is a good way to get around it.. Tell them your phone is kaput and have them restore the unit to factory settings.. Usually that would require them to flash it with their firmware version.. It's been done on the P900 already.. I have personally seen the P900 "re-worked" sort of speak...

just perform an upgrade and then do restore via pc suite....of course you have to back up your settings in the phone via pc suite first....

@chrisfirst

Only certain solution if you can't get PC suit to work is do a complete clean install of your OS.

I know it is drastic but worked for me. Do a clean install of your OS & essential drivers (CD, Video, Sound etc) then install the P900 suit.

Then create a restore point (If using WinXP,ME) before putting evrything else on so you can determine if/what is causing the conflict.

Since doing this I have never had trouble with my P800 or now my P900.

Not for the firmware at this stage but you should really do the Backups .I only backup the internal memory as it takes too long with a 128MB DUO. I put the DUO in my USB reader to make a copy as its much faster than via docking station (even more so if I get a USB2 reader ).

Damm,

Updated the firmware with no probs on that sim free p900 i had yesterday.
Now got this o2 p900 it goes through the process of updating but no different at the end (no changes in revision)
Need to get it completely re-flashed i guess.
