I'm on Globe (Phil). Time is 12.50am. First result was 1,19 kbps. Yay. Then I tried again and result came to be 16,54 kbps. It also says somethin like 32kb received in 1,93 sec...

I got 11.63, which is about 93kbps. Not too bad imo! Faster than dial-up, that's for sure...

Hi every1!
My mobile is Siemens C55. I tested its GPRS by
easily downloading any midi ringtone to it using my GPRS WAP connection.
Thanx alot to WapClub http://wapclub.esmartmusic.com
from where i downloaded as many cheap ringtones as i wanted to!

It's very easy! I didn't know it is!
You can try it yourself.
They also give free ringtone weekly to everyone , who will subscribe their newsletter!
And i easily found how to set up my GPRS mobile properly!
Their customer care service is very friendly!

Check it and tell me what u think about it?

I'll enlighten you both :) a) to convert from Kbps (kilobits) to KBps (kilobytes) you DIVIDE by 8, not multiply. b) these tests measure the speed from your phone to the server the test is in, since this is probably in italy there is a long trip there. the best would be for your phone company to host the test. otherwise just try one in your country, or wait for me to finish the java basedtest

It may surprise most ppl to be discovering that GPRS connection can be as slow as a regular GSM data call, especially in busy areas.

To understand how GPRS works and speed issues, Steve Litchfield has a pretty informative article you can read. Visit http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk wih your PC or smartphone. The article is titled "Introduction to GPRS"

Here's also another speed test link. Have fun: http://speedtest.everyware.ch/cgi-bin/default.pl?ba=http://gewappnet.de/portal5.wml

I got about 18 Kbits/sec, but someone told me that this is not correct measuring, but for italian users.
That could be true cause I measured data flow in Flash get 5, while I was downloading something from the internet using gprs account and it was steady 5.5KB/s=44Kb/s?
I also checked it this way- downloading file of about 3.5MB lasts 10-15 minutes approximatelly.

I am using K700i. I have upgraded firmware version to R2AA003. Before upgrading I could connect my PC via my phone through GPRS. Now I can connect to internet but the pages don't open. I can connect WAP with phone itself. I am wonering if this problem is a result of new firmware.

Mars wrote: "Before upgradingI could connect my PC via myphone through GPRS." If he could do that before, he must have a GPRS Internet account. Without that, he couldnt connect his PC via GPRS.
