yeah, all generations of firearms were represented, ha! i could forgive the vietnam era M-16, but i was really rocked when i saw the english 9mm sterling there! buti na lang walang musket. |

re: the oakwood crisis-
all these mutineers use the latest equipment, latest military uniforms (what they wore was the latest updated 'tiger' camo, which originaly was a vietnam-era pattern. the vietnam era has more black stripe pattern).
...and, you noticed correctly... the good gun models are in the hands of the high ranking soldiers.
makes you wonder who is really selling which, to whom....??? |

just watched tombraider2, indeed the HK's were featured prominently there. Also saw that she indeed had the P11 on her holster when she was wearing the sexy wetsuit. The G36 has been featured prominently in a lot of movies lately and the latest is BadBoys2 where it is used quite a lot, along with Glocks. The drug lord is seen to be using a steyr TMP. Its quite a nice movie, with a healthy dose of violence to brighten an otherwise dreary day. re: the Oakwood incident, aren't our boys issued urban camouflage uniforms (like the malacanang PSG uses) to better blend in with all that concrete and steel? What they're wearing is better suited to a jungle environment and in the urban setting makes them stand out more. Oh well, I know that takes a lot of money and that's something very scarce these days (although if the news reports are to be believed, they seem to be well funded.) |

re: camo pattern- you are absolutely correct, doc!!! they should have worn the urban pattern, which are like concrete or building shadows of gray, etc. and unlike the tiger camouflage 2003 (somewhat similar to the vietnam era tiger) stands out on the Glorietta environment. and yes, on this Oakwood crisis, even if we dont hear about the high budget funding.... just looking at all those new equipment and gear which are not standard issue... it hints that someone really funded them.
yeah the G36 is now almost overtaking the M16 in the movies!
and the H&K USP is sneaking on the Glocks in the movies.
and the TMP Steyr over the now out of fashion uzi.
just like Sony-Ericsson.... over Nokia. |

ammo prices almost the same....
based the trend on a local manufacturer's price-
armscor .40sw is Php17.00
armscor 9mm is Php16.00
shall we move on to .40 now? or should they co-exist. i know 9mm will never die, or have their own use. but for practical reasons.... shall we go .40? |

The 9mm and .40 S&W round by design generates higher cup pressures and still results in the same or even lesser muzzle energy as compared to the heavier,subsonic .45ACP round. This leads to greater chances of case failure especially in reloaded cases. I know this is a controversial subject as the proponents on both sides defend their chosen rounds with a passion, but I believe that the energy produced by the the .45ACP, not to mention the bigger hole produced in your chosen target results in greater tissue damage and neural shock which stops your assailant in its tracks. If you factor in the better bullet designs(Black talon, hi-shok, hydra-shock etc.) and the +P or +P+ loads that are currently available this arguement is strengthened.
Given a choice between the 9mm and the .40 S&W I would go for the .40 S&W, which is the ballistic equivalent of the .45ACP in terms of stopping power. The only advantage I can see with the 9mm round is that its lesser diameter means that more rounds can be crammed in a given magazine size and it recoils less. You and I know however that its the quality and not the quantity of your shots that count. If I'm not mistaken, the .45 ACP and the .40 S&W are the preferred rounds in the states because of 10 round magazine restriction, which has lessened the past appeal of the high capacity "wondernines" which you can spray and pray  . As to the price difference I would say that the .40 S&W gives you more bang for your buck. |

finally had time to watch 'bad boys-2' .....that was entertaining, and gets your attention. just can't decide if it did good or bad to the image of our favorite hobby.

I know what you mean about badboys2, i hope the anti-gun peeps see this as entertainment and nothing else. I'm going to the gun show probably on the 16th. Thinking of getting a new toy. Can't make up my mind yet on glock 21 or 30, Steyr m40, hs2000/xd .40 (still don't have a .40 in my collection),sw 649 revolver, sw99 .45, choices, choices,choices. What do you think?

Same here, the first day is usually the best, as the booth personnel of the various exhibitors are more enthusiastic in showing their wares, and you get to be first pick in guns and accessories. If only Balayan was nearer to Manila. Anyway come weekend i'll be there. Talked to nashe people, the Steyr M40 is still out of stock although they do have the M9. So many guns, so little time :grin:

just got back from the show. handled the Steyr M9 and S9 of Nashe. but yes ....no M40 for now. but the Walther P99 is a beauty! i think you should get that baby! but...well, everytime i look at the USP Expert... sheesh, too many toys, too few money for me!
we'll be back there tomorrow, Saturday. every year i just can't get enough of this. all your usual suspects are there. i check out even the cheap models. just for curiousity.

I'll be taking a look at that P99 ( .40 or .45 ?) along with the other babies I listed. I know what you mean about not getting enough of the gun show. There was a time when the gun show was held at the same time as the PAO(ophthalmologists) convention held in nearby Edsa shangri-la hotel. Couldn't resist the urge to go to the gun show every afternoon for the duration of the exhibit, after attending only a few of the lectures in the morning . I'll also be there tomorrow afternoon, wouldn't miss it for the world.

Got a Glock 30, couldn't get myself to buy a .40 S&W Walther P99 as the .45 cal SW99 wasn't available, maybe next year. I just hope KB's and breech face failures with glocks aren't really that common and have been blown out of proportion. |

yeah i've heard of those KBs... but only from unofficial internet documentations. and anybody can post it on the internet. i mean... i can do websites and do fictional KBs of any gun i want to ruin an image, and it will spread like wildfire. just like how some forums in this esato thing are spread, where they announce all sort of gossip. point is ...we dont know how or when a KB will drop by. i think it happens with all brands and models (assuming it really does happen). malas na lang talaga pag sa atin natapat ang isang KB.
nothing like that happened yet (the KBs) to me nor any of my friends. including those who frequently shoot. am talking about ALL gun models. |
