shame on SE, up until this date, they have not yet to release any phone with 16M colors. I do understand and i see their screen have been improved a lot since K750, but it is just a shame that they have not yet implement more colors on it. Nokia has been using 16M color screen since last year.

if no one can spot the incredibly evident difference between 16m and 65k in that pic, then please, your eyes arnt probably even worthy of high end screens.
yeah, and i guess you have high end screens from where you come from

...better, on LCDs it is harder to tell the difference unless you try. Must be the reson why its hard to tell the difference at all on mobile phones.
Really, I can't see NO diff'rence whatsoever between 262k and 16,7 mil!

This one pretty much nails it. I'm going to make a similar thread at mobile-review to clarify false info that 16million color screens are better than 262k ones. I'll use your pictures, if it's okay. If not I'll delete the thread.

HAHAHa...
this post is so UNtrue... (regarding the X1 screen)
look man... these pics is taken to show color depths on the same resolution... in WVGA resolution there is almost no difference....
and remember when i saying no difference.. it means that the 65K color screens use a technique that is called color mixing...
(DAAAAMMMMN... this windows version does not have paint... otherwise i would show you what is the color mixing.)
trust me.... on that pixel density you will see no color banding.

The answer is simple,Most lcd's in market have TN panel, which is really awful when it comes to color representation. They use dithering to simulate the desired colour (although it never produces the real color).
CRT's are the best when it comes to colour representation,So you can easily spot the difference. Also pro lcd monitors which uses some good panels like S-IPS are also good representing the true colour(s),but they are much expensive.
And im pretty sure human eye can distinguish ~7-10 million or more colours..

I'm sure you took this pic in a dark environment where K850 light sensor is active (decreasing the screen brightness down to 50%). No wonder the screen brightness was dimmed.
