Clear Audio is definitely not hardware related. Its pretty much the same as proper Sony Walkmans (and I believe its even called the same), and thats simply based on software and different drivers.

the guy on the support maybe told me wrong stuff, i dont know, i just tell what he told me.

I know what one is. And sure, the W980i may have new hardware. But Clear Audio is nothing to do with that.

Lol there won't be a fight. No need for one, and I'm not particularly interested in adding to the (already too frequent) fights on Esato. Plankgatan is a good fella, why would there be a fight?

Any word yet on expected price?
No price but it will probably be around the same initial price band as the P1, W960, P990 was when it first came out.
I was due an upgrade this month but O2 has no phones that I want so I asked about the W980. They said that if I want it I could have it as my upgrade and the phone will be sent out when they have it in stock which will be mid June apparently.
Knowing O2 though they won't be releasing it until 1 or 2 months after that
They didn't release the P990 until 3 months after its initial release.
Don't the HPM-77's work the same way as the HBH-GV435 and some other bluetooth headsets with the noise cancelling to produce a clearer sound in the ear ?
That is software related I think. Where the mic samples the surrounding noise and boosts the speakers voice and also increases the volume of the earpiece automatically so the everything can be heard clearly.
The handsets havent had this noise cancelling feature as of yet so maybe this is what we will be getting

can the "clear bass" and "clear stereo" effect be digitally produced? if so, then it would be a software thing.
if not, then maybe really tweaked a bit of hardware to produce those "clear" sounds, just like what plankgatan has been posting.

Ok, why dont you tell me what "clear stereo " and "clear bass" is? I can understand bass being less distorted, ergo more clear, but what in the blue hell is clear stereo?

@qvga
i didnt know hell is blue... hehehe
tbh, i think its just a software thing. because if it is a hardware thing then should have been flaunting it through their adverts and press releases, right?

in a word - as to why they are not (if its hardware) - "Patents"! Not belonging to Sony/ SE.
I think its a combo of both really. Software like in codecs & algorithms to "enhance" outgoing sound; but hardware for the decoding in realtime and crispness of it all.
