I buried my Nan today who was the last Grandparent alive.

as sad as that is on its own, it makes you stop and think about life (and its meaning) when the last of a generation has gone, bringing the inevitable one step closer to yourself not to mention that its probable that your own parents will be next, though hopefully not in the near future...

to be honest, lately I'm not convinced there is any meaning, its probably all down to science that we are here.... we don't exist, then we do and this is our one chance to exist in the whole of time, then we don't exist... but thats probably a whole other discussion

anywhichway, all we can do is make the most of it while we've got it...

my Nan was 85 so she had a good innings but we're a strong family and have coped fairly well.

its amazing how much weight feels lifted once you get to the wake once the "goodbye" ceremony and buriel is all over. Throwing the dirt onto the casket in the grave seems to provide closure quite well, but that not to say she is not remembered fondly.

@masseur

Sorry to hear it.

It was a great blow when I lost my mam after a long illness a few years ago and I guess we all live relatively happy lives until you have to survive the loss of a loved one.

I remembered happy times, thats what got me through.

I used to work for 2 OAPS basically housekeeping,
I got so involved with them that when I got a card for my Birthday 2 years ago it was the worst card ever the Husband of the lady had passed away it was a shock to the system,

I don't think I could ever do a job again like that,
it must be harder for Nurses I swear

Good luck with bathing the kitty. I hope there is some skin left on your arms afterwards.
