btw nebbs is you k850i gsm unbranded??
also where did you get it from??
maybe a bad batch eh?

Glad im not the only one then although i am sorry that you are suffering the same defect, I got mine from O2 online gonna take it to an O2 shop and see if i can get it swapped.

Its the slightest touch on 'C' or the right hand soft key and i get the ripple effect.

If you got your phone through O2 online the stores won't swap it. They treat each other as if it's a separate company. I don't know if you did or not, but just a warning cus you could be a few days without the phone.

@-Ryan-

I'll try the store first and see if i can wrangle it thru them, the O2 customer satisfaction guarantee does state that you may visit your nearest O2 store if there is a fault.

one question, the casing at the back, if you press the part near the light sensor in, is it squeeky? the rest of the back isnt, just that area. its quite annoying.

My casing is slightly squeaky in the area between the battery cover and the flash. I noticed it when I first got it. I think the problem arises because a slight manufacturing fault where the back cover isn't sufficiently glued down in that corner. If you open the end up and have a look at that area when you're squeaking the back you'll see it is raised ever sop slightly off the metal housing. I think this is probably a problem that is common across a certain batch before someone on the line noticed that the glueing machine wasn't glueing the full face of the back. I'm getting a replacement tomorrow, I'll let you know if that has the same problem.

Whoever said that O2 store won't swap, do you mean they won't send it off for repair at the store of the phone was bought from O2 Online?

Why should they send it off for repair? I would demand a new one. Hopefully when mine comes today or tomorrow it won't have any of these dodgy build defects. If it does I'll be straight on the phone to them.

I think with O2 it will will be similar as with Vodafone. Each will take the phone from you if you want to exchange it but they'll have to send it off to be assessed first. Whereas if you call the call centre you can arrange for an exchange on your doorstep. When I went into a Voda shop on saturday they told me they could swap it for me but it'll take up to two weeks for my replacement so I walked away and called up today and they're sending me a new one tomorrow.

This is the first time I've been with O2 Online.. hopefully they won't let me down if there are any problems with the handset. It's just a pain if you're not around to accept the delivery/pick up. There was someone home all day for them to deliver today and it didn't come. Tomorrow I'll be out from 9-1. Who wants to bet they'll deliver then? I'll be seriously pissed if they do and I have to wait even longer.

Hey Mezmee! I ordered my upgrade today and no-one is going to be in so I'll be screwed as well. Oh well, if it's Citylink who try to deliver then my depot is 10 mins away so that's alright.

Ricky D cheers for the answers.

Those with vodafone branded handsets are you message delivery reports working?

I've never had any problems in other phones but this phone doesn't seem to work with them turned on.

I don't use the delivery reports usually, but seen as I have two phones in front of me right now I'll give it a try....

It worked fine for me just now. Not sure what the problem could be there.

Edit: Edit: Whey!! I just broke 100 posts. Yay for me.

*************************************************************

If your K850i display doesn't look very bright when set at 100% brightness compared to the K800i, don't worry!

There's a small light sensor (top left of the display opposite the front 3G camera)
as ambient light increases so does the display brightness (if you want to test it shine a small light just on the sensor,

which is also why (if anyone has noticed) the display brightness changes slightly most of the time, well done SE it's a good idea and should save some battery power.

I've suffered from the lens cover thing and had my phone replaced, but I had a multitude of problems which led me to want a replacement. Tell me, do you also have a slightly squeaky casing between the flash and the battery cover. Just squeeze the phone lightly and see if it has any give and/or squeak. I had a sqeaky cover and it might be to do with that in someway impeding the cover. otherwise I think it'll be a firmware issue.

I expect the volume thing will be a firmware issue and will be fixed with an update.

I have the same problem when i press the c button but its only a small faded white patch right in the corner, not very noticable or annoying to be honest.
I think it is normal because of how big the screen is and how it is laid out. I have the laser theme and the white bit doesnt really stand out but if any1 doesnt have this problem try using the same theme and press c, u will probably see the whitey patch.
