If anyone belives a single word they are told about the iphone from o2 staff at present, your dafter than the o2 staff themselves.

These people in the stores are always the last to find out whats happening. so my advice, sit back, relax and wait for the wonder that it the iPhone.

If you can build and put up your own website I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have any problems following the very clear instruction on how to unlock and customise an iPhone as long as you remember to disable the auto update in iTunes and don't update i can't really see how you can go wrong to be honest IMO.

Bless you but iWeb is alot easier to do. I'd have to install windows which is bad enough, thoughts of ended up with a bricked iphone make me sick. Very tempted to get one and i've made a few offers on ebay but nothing has come through yet.

Ever heard of "Sod's law" Dogmann , the timid and unsure are better laying off the iPhone for a few weeks to see how things pan out IMO.

agreed if you are scared about the mighty iphone consperacy get your self an iPod touch for the same price but u get double the memory hmmm sence me thinks or maybe not. in the EU telecoms companys have to supply an unlock code as and when you request one like when you want to change your broadband connection they must supply you with the unlock PIN with in 28 days of a cancleled contract.

if you cancle a contract you must pay the full outstanding amount correct? thus making the phone yours. the iphone tariffs on O2 are new and to iphonew only free data and free wifi usage start at 35, 45 or 55 PM but IMO the contracts are a skank y not goto apple.co.uk and buy a Sim Free iphone? save your moneys in the long run

i dont think O2 will be able to keep the iphone exclusive for long as orange, vodafone and t-mobile will offer lots of money to apple to allow sales IMO

gla to whom may open an 18 monther with O2 (W**K*RS)

I'm not scared i just don't want to pay £300 for something for it to f!@k up, i know it probably won't like 99.9% sure but you never know.

Guess i'll give it ago when i can get hold of one.

No need to have to install Windows there is software for Mac's just strangely there seems to be more for Windows then there is for a Mac device which i do find more than a little strange.

its a mac thats why more windows users will purchase the iphone (statisticly) than a mac user purely because there are more of them, i'd love an imac or new mac 24inch but alas i dont have a spare £2k but i did have a spare £40 and that got me a good pc with 1gb ram and a 2.2 ghz cpu with 2 HDD's and genuine windows 2000

Guys, can I chuck in another possiblity into this interesting thread please...

Will Apple sell the iPhone to Education workers at a discount as they do with all their other Apple products?

If so, will they also have some kinda agreement with O2 to give a discount on the contract also?

@scouser_75

I have read over at Howard Forums exactly the same question and apparently student discounts only apply to Mac books and iMacs only so it's just their computers that are eligible for discount I'm sorry to say.

As an Orange employee Doggmann you get 10% off Apple goods....

how's that going to work??

Can't see Orange employees being too happy at the prospect of being forced to use O2!!!

Ah FATREG,

But as you know i am still of the opinion Apple or 02 are going to have to unlock them, but to be honest a £26 discount isn't exactly earth shattering but at least Orange has EDGE if you do get one.

Hi all,

Well according to an article i have just read it actually appears it is Apple that locks and keeps the iPhones locked not the Networks. So come the 9th November it looks like i am going to have go to an Apple store and read their T&C's very carefully before contacting OFCOM again. But at least if it is just Apple that are dong it that makes the situation easier to deal with IMO.
