Haha that is funny, just like alot of members here that said they would not be getting the iphone have started to sing a different tune and ordered or are in the process of pre-odering one so do I believe those stats nooo no noooo(thanks amy winehouse)
I think for mac users they will appreciate this phone more especially with the sync issues we used to have to wait months for some phones to be supported SE been the worst to release updates, but know well things have changed.
I do hope that the UK version will allow BT transfer but very much doubt it. |

they asked this on the BBC when it was launched in the US.
"is the iphone worth all the hype?"
it was 35% YES
now people have been more informed and asked...
"will you buy an iphone?"
its now 15% YES

I've hardly heard it mentioned anywhere yet outside of web, and there has been hardly any media campaign in the UK, which, I imagine, will change dramatically in the next 7 weeks.
I won't be buying one, I think I'll find it frustrating after a while, plus I am looking forward to having a decent camera on my phone again, however I will go and have a play with the UI for a while to see what all the fuss is about as thats probably the only good thing about it IMO.

I can not wait to see what Apple does with the iPhone here in Finland. Not many EDGE networks, and a whole lot of 3G (HSDPA everywhere). Finns are also funny about how they view mobiles. They might reject it out of principle. Right now with my iPod Touch and E90, I can not see a reason to get an iPhone. To me it is a step backwards in terms of technlogy.

N82(YES), iPhone 3G, Shure es530, Nikon D300, more stuff. No more SE stuff, why am I still here? |

I think ill get it as soons as its out. Im not going to get the day of work or anything but that week ill get it. My argument is this. Sure if I get a K850 or N958gb ill have decent photos but not that great when compared to a digi cam and id still have to carry around an additional PMP with me for music and video so if I get the iphone at least ill get the media playback side of things sorted. And I really do want decent pics when im out and about so Im just going to get something small like a canon ixus, at least that way im not missing anything at all.
Photos will look great on the iphone. I know its has some shortcomings like no 3g, bluetooth profiles but I can get past most of them. I only really use 3G for some surfing and IM and you can IM now through ebuddy. Plus I checked on the clould (the company who provide the wifi) and there are hotsports everywhere pretty much so I don’t see surfing as a real problem.
Also im in need of a change. For the last few years ive always been on and off with Nokia and SE and they make good devices but I want something diferent. Despite its flaws the iphone is still a huge leap forward for a phone and its something I wouldn’t mind sacrificing at all to try out. Most phones these days are just like there predecessors but with a few extra specs. K850 is a good example. I really like the fact that the user interface can be liked and used by everyoine from both kids to adults, from men and women and on top of that its Apple made so will be very good quality.
People will knock them sure, that’s what critics are for but at the end of the day ive not heard a single bad remark from anyone whos bought one which is more than I can say for practically any other phone. It will be a bit of a leap into the unknown straying from Nokia and SE but im looking forward to it.
As for the 18 month contract I would have liked more minutes but I can get by with 200 easily and all decent phones come on that sort of price a month anyway. As for payign 260 for the phone well yeah no one wants to but like I said its like forking out for a new ipod which infact it is. That’s my 2 cents anyway…
Knock me if you will but im really looking forward to it. Ive heard nothing but good things about it so far and im sure it will be a hit here.

I could embarrass a great many people who swore blind that the UK version would have UMTS , anyone fool enough to buy an iphone will go down several degrees in my estimation i promise you!!

UMTS is only useful for those in major cities, as the UMTS coverage in the UK is crap, therefore it is of no benefit to those who have no coverage.
Hence buying a phone with no UMTS, is surely not stupid?
Many people do not use UMTS, most high street retalers will advise against it's use if you don't use video calling, as it seriously drains the battery and limits reception (outwith city centres).
Until we have 99% UMTS coverage, then saying that someone who doesn't use it or need it, buying a non UMTS is phone is stupid etc etc, is largely redundant, and unnecessary.
Just because you obv deem it a major feature, doesn't mean that everyone else does.
Sorry if that seemed a rant but many people, as hard as it may be to believe, don't regularly if ever use UMTS.

At £269 on a 18 month £35 per month contract it's not unreasonable to expect a device to incorp UMTS technology whether one is in the habit of using it or not!!

It is merely ANOTHER feature, and tbh it's not uncommon, sirocco!
It's no different to not having GPS or any other feature.

Well you can put me down in your book then haha
Like I said its one of those things really. I dont think any other device has eve had this much hype and despite its shortcomings it is a breakthrough device so much to the extent that Nokia have gone and ripped the design of but I dont think Steve Jobs will mind as he go there first.
You know what the funny thing is, after having an N95, N93i, P990, and a P1 in the last 7 or so months call it a step back if you like but im looking forward to it. The £269 doesnt really bother me as I would have forked out that for a ipod touch anyway.
Had I gone with the N95 8gb I would have had a capable device but still not one that can be be seriously used as PMP without battery problems. Music and Vidoes is my number one feature in phones and i defy anyone who claims any other device on the market can outmatch the iphone in that dept.

Until youve used one you wont know how good it is. I havent used an iphone but ive used an ipod touch so I have a good idea on what to expect and all I can say is out of all the phones ive ever used its very clear Apple have made something uber special here.
