y dont we just ask SE about it? BTW is the keypad of s500i made of metal or plastic? coz i want to buy w580i and its the same I am afraid that it may crack too

Both the yellow version and the W580i should be fine as it was a chemical in the green paint causing the cracking. |

Hi I recently bought the s500i phone and I was wondering, my phone label (not the battery label) says 07/W27 and I was wondering is this free of the keypad problem or should I return it and get one made after? I have the black and mysterious green one by the way. |

If it was built before week 27, you might want to echange it. But if it was from week 27 or later, you should be ok |

Has anyone found any replacement parts for this? i bought mine off ebay( i live in canada) and i phoned se about it they said send it back to the seller, but i cant becuase its over a week old..any replacement keypads on the internet at all? |

My Gray w580i has cracked on the number 4 key. It still works but you can see the back light thru the hair line crack that runs from the top to bottom. Ill take it back to the CPW today |

the label is on the back under the battery, and those who said week 27 is okay its not, i have a week 27 phone and 4 keys have cracked, not even 2 weeks old. |

Oh dear, that's not good at all. I was going to get one of these phones, but think I might hold off now.

i spoke to sony ericsson UK briefly yesterday and they informed me that they also realise there is a problem with the keypads and anyone with the same problem to call them and send it back….
they told me they put “the wrong” keypads on them
The are many cases with broken keys in phones made after 27 week, even in my country (Poland).
I found some ppl in one forum, who try to contact local SE Service. When I will have some info I will post it.

i really really want to get this phone. i dont mind wat color. I jus want to know, is there any guarantee with the yellow ones? or with the ones made like on week 29 or 30? i jus want piece of mind:S |
