Hi mode,
I refuse to held responsible for bad thread titles, so strictly you are right but until the P1 actually arrives we can't really know exactly what it will be like. Although i am sure it will be very good and much better than the first 3 devices just how better is unknown. If this had a better processor and HSDPA i may well of got one. As i think it is a good looking device but i will have to wait for its successor with much newer spec's. Ram really isn't everything especially f you rarely need to truly Multi task.
Marc

@sapporo
With VOIP, how do you use it? 3G is turned on, and you use it like a regular phone? does it switch automatically to gsm and voip whenever there's 3g signal? i'm new to voip in cell phones
@dogmann.....sorry about the bad title, but I included P1i since I know it's coming out and wanted opinions if I should wait for it or go ahead and get the p990
no harm intended lol...
again thanks everyone....someone here mentioned P1i might come out end of this month?? if so, I might just wait for it....grrr too many choices too little time and money hehehe

hm...good question here. p990i is nothing, will sell it as it's not a performing device for me. N95 is way too expensive right now and so will the iphone be. P1 will be UIQ like P990 and M600i and W950 and i made my experience with this platform.
from the looks the N95 appeals more to me. iphone is just another apple thing like the ipod i was never interested in so i wouldn't even consider it. SE failed my expectations. so in the end in a few months maybe N95 but since in a few months will come out new devices...why bother spending lots of money in devices that need updates all the time because not working properly..

I think it is quite safe to say P1i will not sell in volume like N95. P1i would be very lucky if it can achieve 10% of N95 sales volume. Given the sky-high price and peculiar format of P1i, it will sell to a niche market only.
People who buy P1i buy it because of specific preferences (like touchscreen or because it is a SE). For other more neutral buyers, most would go for N95 just by comparing side-by-side spec sheets.
iPhone is in the same boat as P1i (i.e. a niche device) but it will do better than P1i because of the hype. In terms of spec iPhone (like P1i) lose a lot to N95. And we have only seen some mock up on iPhone supposely very friendly but simplistic UI. It is still yet to be proven in practice that it is as user friendly as a keypad (not forgetting that one of major use of a phone is to send text messages - you cant never do as easy using a ts).
Buy the iPhone for the hype. Buy the P1i (for the touchscreen or SE label). If you are not in these 2 categories buying the N95 is the most pragmatic choice you can made.

@wabre,
The N95 costs the same amount as the P1 and has way more features. If you look back in this thread a page or so, you will see my post where I showed the P1 on sale and its selling price. Also you have to remember, SE is known for getting your money and then delivering very little. Not to mention that customer service is almost non-existent.

Hello mib1800 my friend.
One small correction. The P1 and the N95 are very close to the same price. Here in some stores the N95 sells for a few Euro (5) cheaper than the P1, however as you know the N95 will keep its value longer.

...oh, but i know that very well...unfortunately i made the wrong choice by buying the P990i. never in my life i was in the strange situation that i hated a phone i had so much. for ME it's just plain crap. even a faulty N95 would suit better. and you are absolutely right: high price and no value, support is non-existent and if, they just waste your time. so...in the end, i would not consider a P1i anymore.
