My phone's been de-branded and the headset still locks up on incoming calls, sound quality is poor and I've e-mailed the seller for a refund. Don't think he'll accept though. I'll have to go through Paypal, and seeing as I can't get to a service centre to verify whether the headset is a fake I may be struggling ( |

I've got a reply - to send the headset back for a refund, minus postage. Ah well losing £5 is better than losing £35 |

ok everybody, im gonna tell u something. maybe it will make u think...
as u know (if u read my posts before) i bought fake ds970. i spent on it £30 + £7.50 shipping cost. Seller told me they don't refund shipping costs. so i need to pay to send the headset back, and i don't even have a guarantee that they will give me mine £30 back.
As i can see many of u have a similar situation. I'm gonna write u what i have done to get rid of this problem. It's just what i have done, i'm not saying it's good to do that, but if u want u can try...
U READING THIS ON YOUR OWN RESPONSABILITY !!!
U can buy this headset from many mobile shops (of course not only ebay). And that's where story starts.
i visited a few mobile shops in town and pretending 'stupid girl' i was asking about ds970. - what's that? - is it nice? - how much is it? - is the sound quality good? ... etc. I was just pretending that i want to buy it, but i'm not really sure if i want it (like girls always do ). so i was asking in every shop if it's possible to give it back if i buy it and then won't like it. in 2 shops they said no, but finally in 3rd they said ok! Guy was a bit confused, but after a word with manager they said OK! he just told me that if i don't like it, i have to bring it back in 7 days, and box has to be in the same condition. ...that's what i was looking for..... so i bought orginal headset for £89,99 (!!!)(price in shop!!!).
Back at home i just changed rubbers (put the orginal rubbers on fake headset and the other way round), coz that was a difference they could spot. i packed fake hong kong to orginal box, and after few days i went back to the shop. i showed the receipt and said that i don't really like this headset, and i want my money back. this guy just checked if everything is in the box, and without a word gave my a refund!!!!!!! i just said 'thank u' and left. uuuaaa... to be honest i almost shited myself when i was there, but he didn't realise anything! and that's it! i end up with geniue SE and don't need to worry about sedning it back and stuff like that.
this is info for everybody.
if u work in shop always check what people bring u back before u give a refund:)
if u want to buy something always check it out (even if it's a proper shop!!!) , coz it can be something from hong kong )
and finally if u have fake.... u know what to do [cash only!!! - no credit cards!!!]
p.s. sorry for my english but it's my 2nd language.

I have a fake headset bought it from US shop on ebay their name is blaccessories I just realised today that I have a fake headset as it does not play properly and cannot handle dual mode very well.
I just sent them a mail and told them that my SE service center told me it was fake. |

Sorry, but I think this is just as wrong as selling the fake headset.
I wouldn't advise anyone to do it. The fact that you were screwed doesn't give you the right to screw someone else.
This headset will probably be sold (for big bucks) to someone else in good faith...

if somebody buy it, and it won't work properly, there's nothing easiest than give it back to shop. it has full warranty! |

Someone will still have to pay for it... Either the buyer, or maybe the shop, or maybe the manufacturer. And it's none of them's fault.
And what if this "someone else that bought it" sends it to warranty and gets a reply that they could not fix it because it's not an original product ?
Besides that, the fake seller keeps your money.
...My opinion still is that you should look for another way of solving it.

I bought a fake one as well. I am in the US. The ebay seller is come_chinese007 or something like that. I placed a dispute about a month later after I received the headset. I thought the unit was just wasnt up to par with my Plantronics 590A so I just put it aside, not thinking anything about being fake until I saw a thread on howardforums.
As of now, I had filed a dispute with paypal, and they refunded me 100% of what I had paid in the transaction. And I still have the unit in my possession!
As for the person that asked about the difference in packaging, in my observation, ALL SE headset boxes have the large sticker on the side listing the product, product number and where manufactured. The fake ds970 did not have such sticker as you see in iaok's pictures you see one clearly. But again this is an assumption.
Good luck to all! |

how did you manage to get paypal refunding you without you sending the item back ? Can you tell us more detail about how you managed the case ? |

Well in short, I had put in a dispute to paypal stating that the unit was not a genuine item. The proof was the feedback the guy/girl has, stating that a lot of the headsets were indeed fake. I let the dispute go for 3 days or so and then after the third day, I escalated the case. In this instance, paypal takes over, emails both you and the seller to try to resolve and if the seller does not reply to paypal, then paypal judges based on the case in hand that you are correct. Time frame was about a week.
I am happy with the outcome.

Sorry for the late reply, but it was minus the shipping cost, I think it's the agreement when you buy something on ebay.
@alkoholiczka
That just wrong. Just like another guy said, you were doing the same as selling the fake one. If I am the one bought your fake headset, and not knowing the return policy of that store, I might not return it, I will just think "Oh, SE fooked up again", and you are telling people here to doing that? FTW...
