Hi guys...

Firstly, a big thanks to fatreg for all his good work in getting tomtom out there for us all..

I managed to get it working quite easily, and so far, has been very stable on my P990i.

I have a Holox BT-321 receiver, bought from Ebay... 32 channel, quick fix, very good price, and does work indoors.. cost Ł38 inc postage.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/GPS-SYSTEM-TRADE

Note spelling.. Holox, not holux.

I have a SE HCB-700 car kit, and so long as I connect to that first, it works with both that and the sat nav receiver..

I noticed that the pocketgps camera database is the all in one version, and that for individual alerts on camera type and speed, I presume all that is needed is to exchange this for the separate files... and change the sound clips... (on tomtom website)

This particular P990i is my second one.. the first being so buggy, it was useless.. this one so far is pretty stable, and the only thing that bugs me is not being able to receive SMS.. (says incomplete, and access denied)
I have found a workaround by going to forward the sms, where I can read it ok.

Just out of interest, has anyone else received shipment confirmation if they have ordered TomTom from TomTom direct?

Placed an order with them on Saturday, but it has remained at the status of Authorised with the shipment information just listing "Warehouse".

Alternatively does anyone know how long TomTom normally take to process and ship orders?

Almost tempted to cancel if they are going to be days as for the same cost I can get it shipped next day from a couple of UK suppliers...

Can anyone please post some step by step instructions on how to install the software by fatreg. I install from my p990. It then asks me to install. I press install then it installs in 1 second but there is nothing installed.

Any help will be much appreciated

Right. Have now asked TomTom to cancel my order. I originally contacted them to find out when the status would actually change or my order would ship and all they gave me was a description of what the status meant - "Authorised" simply means they have validated your card for payment, but not actually taken any funds. I can't be bothered to wait for them to actually pull their finger out and do something with my order, so I have placed an order with Mobilefun instead, who now appear to have stock and it works out around the same price anyway.

Unzip the 200+ MB file posted by fatreg directly to your MemoryStick root. Then insert it to the P990 and the installation starts automatically. Then activate the map(s) as described further up this thread.

I had a call come through while using tomtom...

The map still moved as normal, but didn't get any voice prompts... once the call finished, normal service was resumed..

I presumed this is what would have happened, but would have been nice for the prompts to continue.

The voice comes from the phone, but it would be nice to have it come through the HCB700 kit..

Other than that, it is working really stable... just had a couple of low memory errors, one which unfortunately needed a reboot to clear.
