Nice specs, but as exterior design it leaves much to be desired. I mean, even my K750 fails to give the "wow" factor... it's basically a candybar phone.
The unwieldliness of the camera cover on the k800 is giving me doubts about whether to buy one or not.
And as already mentioned here, why does it come without MS Duo Pro compatibility?? I dished out more money to get me two 1Gb cards, which if I abandon the K750 will be useless. Surely a Duo Pro could be wedged in the K800??
On a final note... why has it got to be always 'velvet black'? The candybar formfactor offers the best solution to change the fascias (albeit done by expert hands). At least SE could come up with more colours, e.g. metallic blue, red, silver etc.

while the k790/k800 seems to adhere the princible "simplicity is beauty", it would be better to come up with another phone like the S700i with more focus on the cyber-shot brand. a prefix of "c" would be a good idea, don't you think?

| The memory cards.. m2. This is the one laim idea shattering all connections. Everything has to begin again. If i do get this k800 i will no longer be able to quickly get my card and stick it in a psp. |

it will work with the ms pro duo adapter...

In my own personal opinion this new phone stinks of laziness. Sure i do like the 3.2 Mega pix camera, but an improved user interface would have been nice. Also I don't see the point in trying to separate the k800 from the next walkman model if they are both going to be identical but with bigger memory card supplied (ie w800 and k750). Also the joystick better be improved! But i don't know how they can manage to make sure dust and dirt doesn't go down an open space in the phone.
And if the video is as bad as others are saying.... well its up to others what to do, but i'll wait and see to hold it, if it looks as ugly and rectangular in person as it does in the picture i dont think i'll be bothering. and stick with my k750 or (one of the other batch of phones being announced in march any1 know what date? Or see what nokia or samsung has to offer |

Just read the review on MR and overall, it sounds impressive, although I doubt this will the best imaging handset released by this year, especially according to this quote from Eldar: -
"Video recording supports same set of effects as for the camera. There is only one available resolution which is 176x144 pixels at 15 fps rate. Such low resolution is implemented only because SE plans launching another brand for additional set of products targeted for making great photos combined with video recording in HD-quality."
Is there something he is not telling us? Apparently.

I cant believe that mobile_review took such shitty pics with it. They hardly do the phone justice. Hell if you are going te review a phone @ least do it properly, i could do a better a job @it.

What do you guys want?
Yes, the upgrade isn't as upgraded as we would've wanted, but at least it has been upgraded with some reasonable changes. One of the reason of why the K750 looked so good was because the K700 was such a relatively minor improvement of the T610. Nothing's perfect, and at least SE are releasing more phones to increase their porfolio after last year's success! |

Well, let me say this: I think it's so bad for SE to release basicly same phones, K790i and K800 instead of releasing only K800i which will have both EDGE and 3G support, so stupid!
If video is really recorded in 15fps than, I'm lost with my words and better to stop it before I write something really bad ...

While I agree that we SHOULD have 30fps; I'll disagree on having just the K800i with both EDGE & 3G; Production costs are down remember here in North America we dont consume phones as quick or at the same quantity (population #'s) as those of you in Europe. It seems that the K790i is taller than the K800. At least I get EDGE & A2DP Stereo Streaming on BT v2.0 +EDR (I'm in love SE!!)
I'm pissed cause I just got the K750i and I love it.
I'm hoping the M2 will goto 1GB soon after this phones launch & shortly to 2GB before October.
I'm still debating on this phone; want the EDGE, BTv2 EDR & Camera; but I think I might just wait 3 months after its widely available. Video resolution is disappointing.
God I was wrong and though CyberShot branding wouldnt make it. |

it will be a classic case of " You Either Have it..Or You Don't"..!
What they should have improved is that- Provide Red Eye Reduction if you are providing a Xenon Flash It woul'dnt have made a Big Cost to include a Red Eye also..Secondly whats with launching two sets with more or less same functions cept' the bit where you use Dual Band or Tri-Band or 3G vs EDGE..!
The Dual Band or Tri-Band is Absolutely Useless- See most of the current operators around the world are on 900/1900- So why bother with Bands- Face it It will Work in the world..Specially in your corner..!
3G Vs EDGE- 3G is going to be the Future- EDGE Purporated NOKIA creation is lasting that long...!

heres the impression of one reviewer about the QVGA screen on the phone:
Right off the bat, the most striking thing about the K790 was not its waistline bulge where the camera is, but rather the new QVGA 262k color display - it is an absolute stunner. When I first saw the device, my immediate thought was that Sony Ericsson didn't have working handsets for us to look at because I honestly thought that the handset before me had a printed paper display, as you see in mock-ups. The last time a device fooled me like that was the SO505i made by SE for the Japanese market some years ago. The photo of the display in this story should give you some idea as to how nice it is, as the K790's screen even photographs better than most. Truly impressive.

How elated I was when I saw pictures of this phone today, the specifications were also quite impressive and I thought, this is my phone. But after reading thru these posts, the phone suddenly doesn't look so great afterall. Thanks guys. |

the lens cover on the 3.2 mp camera to me looks like a beltclip. is it just me or there are others who agree ? |
