this looks like a great phone to me,its got nearly everything u could want.only thing wot puts me off is lack of camera personallly.I dont know why people are complaining about the lack of memory slot, surely 4gb is enough.U dont hear people complaining about mem upgrades for 2gb or 4gb nanos.Ok its a phone where mem is shared with other stuff but u can get a decent music collecton on the device.I say jus get a seperate mp3 player if 4gb aint enough for some people.Cant wait for se to announce a real stunner of a phone.hopefully at cebit.I am still waiting for a worthy upgrade to the brilliant s700i. |

Not sure the networks will like this phone. Video calling and photo messenging are extra revenues for them. Not sure they'll subsidise this model as much as a similar model with a camera. |

that's just a misprint. if it did have M2, SE surely would not have omitted it from the spec sheet. besides, there is no M2 slot to be found anywhere on the phone. |

probably, could it possibly be inside with the battery and sim etc, i've seen some other phones that do that. maybe to make way for another feature that needs to go on the exterior of it???
to be honest, even if it has got 4gb memory, i can't see why it wouldn't accept memory sticks as well... being what it is and all.

this phone isn't aimed at telco's but push email providers such as blackberry. They would be more than happy to subsidise the M600.

Why no camera !
Thats a beast of a phone yet they've forgotten to put a camera in it !
Whats this talk of a 3.0mp camera ? Maybe in the next one after this ?

beacause it not aimed to compete in that market, giving it a camera would also make it compete with se's own phones...
i personally would prefer without a camera, because although it would be nice, if another phone came out with a better camera, i may consider and think about changing again, which i wouldn't want to do, because this is such great phone. i call it the cam curse...

So far, SE has announced 3 camera (more will come) and 2 non-camera phones. What make you think they have changed focus toward the music phones only ? |

Not everyone wants a camera.
Not everyone wants a smartphone.
Not everyone wants a massive hi-res display so they can make/receive calls and send a few texts.
Not everyone wants loads of storage.
Not everyone wants a music player.
Not everyone wants a phone that sucks battery power, when it's mainly used for emergencies and sits in a bag all day.
SE are realising that different people have different needs, and a phone with everything can actually put people off. I can name lots of situations where customers have refused to buy a phone that had a camera, even though they didn't have to use it!
There are four other Walkman phones to choose from that do have cameras, and you can rest assured that there will be more. If the W950 finds itself in a niche market, taking sales from Apple (and with a touchscreen, 3D games and an awesome web browser plus email, it surely will) then that's a good thing. People who only want a separate music player will still buy an iPod, or possibly an ordinary Walkman - which is now becoming trendy again thanks to all this extra exposure.
I think it's marketing genius to be honest!

I wonder what memory Sony Ericsson have used.. Anyone remember the Palm LifeDrive that had a CF 4GB card fitted inside (and, yes, it did make it super slow to access).
I have a vision of opening up the W950i and finding a 4GB MS Pro DUO soldered inside.
