1. Your operator or the shop you buy the phone from can offer phone insurance.
2. The K750i can be updated using the online update service like the K700i, and uses the supplied USB cable that comes with the phone to do it.

Yes you can. All you need is the provided USB cable.

is there a way to find out when firmware upgrades are available?
edit: maybe if you register the product online, SE could send an email?

If you get a phone from overseas can you upgrade it with your own countrys firmware to replace the other firmware or can you only download firmware versions from the country you got the phone from?

A thorn wearing a different cover is still a thorn!

Even if you decide that 500KB+ pictures are ok for your K750i, sending the pics via MMS could pose a problem for those recieving them.
My K700i could cope as long as I don't save any more music video clips but my wife's Z600 will be in trouble when I get my W800i.
Owners of phones without expandable memory may find that they can't recieve MMS of this size because of other things taking up space and the problem will worsen when camera phones go 3/4/5

i thought mms reduced the size of photos cuz you couldn't send a megapixel image that way?

Yes, everything you say is true, but I'm not sure what you are saying in the sense that why should any of this be considered a problem ?
Should phones then not have megapixel cameras ?
Are you not able to select yourself a smaller resolution if you need to take a picture for an mms ? Sure you wifes Z600 wont be able to receive a megapixel picture from your W800, but is that a problem of the W800 ? If you know you need to take a picture and send it to your wifes Z600 you can easily just choose a smaller resolution, it will still be a better quality picture than with the old cameras in the same resolution.
Lots of the new capabilities in mobile phones are not suited for the "old" type of mobile phone use, mp3 files, megapixels photos, large videos etc. are not suited to be sent via mms etc., but that does not mean we cannot use it for our own personal use. Mobiles like K750 and others today are more multimediadevices rather than just a mobile phone. I dont see how that can be a negative thing, and if so, then doesnt everyone have their free choise of not buying one if they dont want these extra features ?

Has anyone tried to register on:
www.sonyericsson.com/register
?
In the phone instructions they say: go there and register to get access to exclusive downloads. I went and there is no K750 listed yet on that page so you can't register!

When you try to send a 500kb file the phone auto converts it to MMS friendly size of areou 10% of the original.
If you want to send the person the real print on paper just go to a local Boots store and bluetooth the original in seconds.
. . Proud owner of the K750i-converted to w800 but now flogged on ebay and have the superb N80. |
