Anyone experiencing bluetooth connection problems with headsets (HBH-200 and HBH-600). The connection is dropping all of a sudden. My F/W version is R1L002. I had the same problems with all previous F/W versions. |

Yes - problems with O2 Blue headset
AND
I cannot see the Ringtones on the phone via USB - I can see the Memory card. So to copy Ringtones off the phone to PC I have to copy to mem card first. This used to work on R1A.

Its really bad that SE is taking so much of time to revert back a good firmware..
Disappointed.. Tho not exactly for the problems that i get in my handset but for others too..Many r just having headaches here with just due to bad firmware..

| R1J002
- Released on SEUS 13/6/05
- Camera sounds are muted when in silent mode in some firmware locales (EU_1 , but not EU_3). |
|
I have the EU_3 firmware. Is there a way you can specify EU_1 when downloading at SEUS?
Thanks |

Unfortunately, you cannot specify what you want. SEUS will check the CDA and automatically install the updated version of the existing customization. However, if you are keen changing the customization, you can try http://www.davinciteam.com/. |

Looks like some noise reducing filters applied too. Or it was changed in R1L firmware? Blurred background looks just unreal for this phone . I made pretty much photos with it and thats why Im asking (still have R1J 8[ ). |

As it happens I think SE are doing a pretty reasonable job.
They have issued a number of updates to the phone which has only been on the market here in the UK since May 23rd. So while it's true they dropped the ball a couple of times with firmware that didn't really solve the problems or which created new ones, it is certainly not for want of trying.
I'm quite sure that the problems lie with putting out phones before they are ready in order to stay ahead of the market. The K750i/W800 is probably the last decent phone they will knock out before everyone starts migrating wholesale to 3G. They need to hit the walkman market before the Nokia N91 (with hard drive) hits the shelves.
This might have been foolishly fast in hindsight of course. |

They only released R1J002 which broke GPRS and videorecordingquality then had to release R1L002 to fix the GPRS issue only.
I wouldent go as far as calling that a number of updates.
Basically they only released one update R1J002, which was very poor because it broke basic phonefunctinallity ie GPRS, and thus had to release a quick fix R1L002 which hardly qualifies as an update, its simply a quick fix to rectifiy something they broke in R1J002, it doesnt update anything else.
In short, theyve only released one official update (with issues) since launch may 23rd, and considering the number of users experiensing many different issues, I still find that a litle to poor.

Actually for me and a number of other users R1J/R1L fixed far more issues than it has broken or not fixed. The GPRS issues with R1J only affected some users - others like myself were fine.
As for the video recording bit rate issues with R1J/R1L personally I couldn't care less - its not a feature I'm likely to use in a hurry and prefer to have a phone which doesn't lock up/reboot and has a more stable bluetooth implementation thanks.
I would also imagine from SE's point of view the video bit rate issue is pretty low priority to them in the grand scheme of things.
IMO Ithink SE are doing a very good job - they have been the first handset manufacturer to make their handset's firmware easily user updateable, which in itself is a huge step forward in itself over Nokia et al.
Other manufacturers as has been mentioned already don't even bother with firmware updates they just release a new incarnation of the handset to fix it.
Also bear in mind the level of testing they need to do with each firmware release due to all the operator customisations - its only been 2 weeks since the general release of R1L so I think its reasonable to be patient enough to wait a while longer for fixes to your issues. |

The GPRS issue affected everyone that hadnt allready set up their GPRS before updating, not just specific networks or users, If you had sucessfully setup your GPRS prior to updating you would have no problems, unless you deleted them and tried to set them up again.
There are other issues than the videobitrate, this was only an example. People are still experiensing chrasches and BT issues on R1L002, I know the only 3 chrashes I have had so far has been on the R1L002 firmware. Others are having problems with camera suddenly not working for no apparent reason.
And Im not talking about S//E's general idea of supplying firmwares and the possibility to update. Beleive me I am a hughe fan of S//E and the phones and services they supply, but never the less, this time they were to quick to release a phone with unfinished firmware.
Thats ok, I can support that in order to get the phone to the market. But when you do deside to do that, you are then even more obligated to follow up by quickly sorting out the issues and release stable firmwares. If you dont you will lose the faith from your customers.
I am aware of the work involved and the testing needed, as I work with these matters myself, but thats no excuse, thats simply a matter of assigning enough ressources.
This time around S//E has been a dissapointment to me in this area.
Not a big dissapointment, but still, a dissapointment.

With Davinci you can change the CDA number wich causes the eu... label, look up the cda numbers of eu1 and you will have no shutter sound.
