When JDI is ready to supply. Probably H2 2018.
If it takes too long, LG can be the supplier.
I doubt Sony gets it from Samsung.

my friend send me this long time ago, it is RGBW panel
as XZ Premium is the first HDR device by Sony, XZ1 could be next one too
If Sony need to make HDR much better than current devices, this could make it

JDI OLED(JOLED) and Sony OLED are not same technique or not ?
Sony OLED is TRIMASTER EL™ OLED display use STE Tech
JDI use White OLED Tech

A few years ago Sony and Panasonic were working together.
Oled project. But each company using own technology.
Sony with STE Oled and Panasonic something else ( wrgb maybe, I do not remember).
But both are no longer together for this project..
I have no idea if Sony still has plans to use STE Oled.
I believe A1E does not have it ....

Sony uses LG OLED panels on their OLED TV's, so they might do as well with their smartphones.. albeit they might face supply issue as Apple will move to LG OLED's also.

Update regarding Xperia XZ1/XZ1 Compact release date in Japan.
While XZ1 will be released from all 3 major companies, XZ1C will be released only from docomo.
Release date of XZ1 (docomo) will be pushed back a couple of weeks.
Actual release will be right after or within a week after 2017 winter model announcement event which will be held "earlier than last year"
The XZ1C will be released the same time. |

This is a off topic but has anyone here using talk.sonymobile.com ?
I've a fought with moderator there yesterday and the moderator ban a lot of account including my account.
The topic regard the camera distortion where SONY staff come to tell a lie then block the user who told what's the truth.
Also even I create a new account there to make a comment that include "Moderator ban user's account" then the new account will also be banned.

I have never used the forum. But last year I needed costumer service.It is awful here.
At first they treat you well, I dropped glue on my phone and I wanted new plastic back.
It was all fine until phone got at repair shop.
12 days just to change plastic back ( removable one) that can be changed in 1 minute.
They tell you they need to reset and check whole phone.
Phone came back with overheating, battery life 30% shorter and speaker grill damaged.
Had to look for my rights, they did not want to give me another phone nor money back.
Phone was under warranty...
I was going to get new phone only this year, had to do it 1 year earlier.
I wanted Z5, but money was enough to choose between Z3+, M5 and M4.

These leaks look more correct. Side mounted fingerprint scanner with volume rocker above as well as the camera button at the bottom. Also, notice the line from the top to the sensor part that could be for an antenna line or something. It looks more like the XZP overall, they've removed the bottom plastic strip from the original XZ which is good to see. Sensor hole looks quite large while the design is looped again. Having the side fingerprint scanner suggests that there won't be a significant side bezel reduction while it doesn't look like the device is shorter either so I wouldn't expect anything like the S8. |

Now that's more like it. Looks like we are getting a full metal phone after Xperia P. I loved that phone. I love metal. I like it the way it feels in the hand. Hopefully it will also have smaller bazels. At least 76% screen to body ration.
I'm liking the new back design.

Aesthetics is the trend now. I do hope Sony changes something (the bezels please). It will be almost a year now since they announced the Xperia XZ. They already have a lot of time for some radical changes. |
