Yes, but notice where the module is put on the Premier3. It's not on the flip itself where most camera modules are put, as it's literally impossible with an AF module.
Which is also where you find all the camera modules on the Japanese phones.
W980's location could've fit a AF module there. But that location for the camera module isn't the best place... I think if they were to put the camera there, then the screen must be spinable or flip the other way, like the Premier3. |

Yes but it proves it is possible in a clamshell.

Although valid, it's a bad point. The single worst place one can put the camera in a clamshell is the backside of it. There's no point in adding auto focus to a camera on the back. |

Wrong
No phone can beat all others on all areas. N95 (8GB) might have beaten all other phones in terms of features, but not in terms of looks or build quality. Every phone has a weak spot that another phone does not have.
that's correct mate, but you'll see it either way |

but there is..
just add more complicated hinge (the one that flips + rotates )- that should make a deal with AF camera on the back ... |

The bottom line is we will be impressed. If not by SE then by the other companies there. So there will be great phones there for the taking |

@breccia
Unlikely, unless SE decides to call up the whole Japanese design/production team to step in.

Sony is a waste for other countries only excluding Japan !!!

I hate Sony for this management, because only garbage comes to us !!
That's true

I would have to disagree, as long as your screen can swivel (like the sharp 903) or you have an external display (nokia N76), and there's a secondary camera for video conferencing
if you put an autofocus module at the front, the screen will be too heavy when you flip open (or it'll be very difficult to make it balanced), which was the problem faced by panasonic back then |
