why cant even plan route with nokie maps? thats really crap... at least that would be a great feature... the navigation is already pretty overpriced imo, seems u cant do anything with the map feature, instead of check places and see where u are

Hi Miss UK
When i had my N95 8GB i only ever used WiFi as don't have a data plan with VodaFone and the only time it ever tried to use packet access was for VodaFone Live.
I just made sure that for Internet,Messages and Fring it was set to user defined and that i had selected my home Wifi connection and then it can't connect any other way it's just not possible.
So i would check that every app that you use that connects to the internet is set to user defined and is using your WiFi connection but you need to be sure this is done for any app that uses the Internet to be sure.
Sorry to hear you have to hear you have got stung for Voda data use as that really sucks.

Hi Marc,
all my settings were fine and set to User Defined!
prob was when my Virgin Media connection went down I didn't notice it transferred to the next connection which was Vodafone live hence my charges,
Ive sorted it out now, Vodafone advised me not to take the Data cos I don't use it 1MB or 0.5MB is what they say I use the majority of the time,
even thought they've advised me not to take this ive added it anyway works out cheaper in the longrun if I ever have any probs lol
btw now ive added it to my plan,
funny how YouTube fails to work with Vodafone live? but works connected to Wi-Fi
anyone know whats up here?
im sure all the content controls off on my account bit odd if you ask me :/

Hi Miss UK
I really can't understand how it used another connection when your WiFi wasn't available without asking you? it should of said connection not available and then asked you it doesn't do it automatically well it least it never has on any of my phones. As yours is a generic handset i really can't understand what happened in this case seems very strnge to me.

Does anyone think it would be possible to take apart the N95 8GB and remove the 8GB flash memory and put in a 16GB? If its just a memory card inside, do u think it could work?

You can not replace the 8GB Flash memory due to the software issues you would come across...

Yeah Marc it was abit odd,
I had a prob with my N80 on 02 in a similar way too!
you just gotta watch what your doing with these phones btw
The N95-1 backplate comes off easily to expose the circuits and stuff but yeah the 8GB one looks like it's rein-forced against us trying to prys it appart and try removing the Flash memory lol
has anyone took the phone appart? what does the Memory part look like?

@Karina do you have the no gateway reply problem?
i had it with mine and found this worked a treat.
You have to put the gateway on the phone manually by editing the tool – setting – connection - Access point – (select your access point) - option – edit – advanced – Ipv4 – manual
And give the phone a static IP address
must be with the same range of the wireless router that means have the same first 3 sets of number e.g (192.168.1.xxx) and define net mask (255.255.255.0)
Then define the gateway by using the router IP address eg( 192.168.1.1)
And again use the same IP (192.168.1.1) for the DNS address
hope this helps
