The thing where the phone has no smilies in the texting menus. Its the same on other s60 touch devices.

Hi Everyone
So I finally bought the Satio yesterday, haven’t had much time to play with it yet apart from send a few texts, but have to say my initial thoughts are that of disappointment. I’ve just changed from a c905, and as a big texter all the features i was used to have disappeared, such as conversation view, recently texted list, and the Satio doesn’t even have Smiley/Emoticon support!
I had a lot of trouble with my c905 like most people, I think i was on my 7th model, but when it did work it was amazing, and it just feels like I’ve gone from a smooth working easy to use interface, to something basic and clumbersome, I’m having a lot of trouble with the resistive screen as well, i didn’t really believe the horror stories i had read, but using it for myself is driving me mad! I’m really having to press hard, and sometimes it doesn’t respond until I’ve pressed it about 5 times!
Starting to regret buying it now I think
Although i would recommend to anyone wanting to buy it, Dont buy it sim-free it’s around £500, i got mine from the carphone warehouse on pay as you go for £400, It’s exactly the same as sim free, unlocked with no branding, but they bundle an orange sim card with it, so it really is alot cheaper.
It is a bargain at that price for sure, thing is, anyone who expects an iphone/Androidesque TS experience from a resistive screen is always going to be disappointed, if one looks at the Satio with a view to it being a Photo-centric device 1st, and Multimedia phone 2nd, then it fit's the bill very well indeed.

I'm a photographer too and I know very well that photography is subjective. Trust me, as long as you're happy with your pictures, there's not one opinion you should heed to.
I thought the comment was merely about the quality of the photos, not the actual photos or the composure.
I mean, the ones I took weren't works of art - just a few pics taken on my way to/from work. I haven't had a proper chance to go out and take proper test photos yet - and probably won't for a few days.

Yes, on a second read, that's exactly what McKinley meant. Just a bit of brain-fart from my end.
My sincere apologies to Voda_Jon.
When speaking about the overall appearance of the images, I've seen that the beach/ snow mode enhances saturation and contrast compared to the normal mode. The standard images that come out of the Satio have muted colors in traditional SE style. A lot of people however equate saturation to "Quality", so i think SE has boosted it in the final firmware. I'll confirm once I get the update. |

They certainly seem to have increased the saturation on the Aino, and it looks well over the top (in my view), but I guess you're right that people equate this to quality.
Wasn't it true that the default settings on televisions are different in Europe/USA to Japan/Korea - one liking high contrast, vivid colours and the other preferring more muted colours (but I can't remember which way around!).
I wonder if SE is going to start making adjustments based on the intended market (based on region specific firmware)?

Mine's loaded with UK firmware and it gives muted, balanced colors by default.
Asians generally like bright colors, so you may be right about that bit of info.
I prefer the muted ones though. More natural and boosting them if needed takes only a minute anyway. |

Even the quality of photos had gone region specific? As in? |

Not quality, just the saturation. The per pixel detail remains the same.
Also, I'm not sure if this IS true; I'm just taking Morris's word for it. |

I asked it as a question, so let's not just take my word for it; that's how false rumours begin to spread.

SE has dropped Wayfinder in favour of Wisepilot.
Not sure if this is because Vodafone now owns Wayfinder and the terms & conditions to the manufacturer changed?
