But if it is only around 249.99 pounds then I'd say that it's pretty cheap! The wait in Australia continues...

o2 have never done a fre-order have they? This must mean they expect the phone soon and a large supply i think.

All new phones on O2 online come online under pre-order for at least 7 days. - they call it 'advertising' if you call through and try to order them.
When you click through it tends to say 'delivery can be expected in 7-10 days'.
However, there's been quite a lot of disgust to this as it's selling goods as if you a) have them in stock or b) know they are coming in.
The problem was that it was neither for quite a few models so having their hands slapped looks to have made them put the words pre-order online. |

Well I'm discusted with O2, my contract run out on Friday, so phoned them up to get a pre order upgrade for the K800 and was quoted £180... How do they get that figure? If I was a new customer I can get the phone for £50??
So now I've had to cancell my contract and start a new one. Can't even take my new number as I still want to stick with the O2 network. This is insane, why can't O2 give me the same deal as anyone else? I know I'm a low user only on the Online 50 @£19 a month. But still, I can get the phone for £50 and be on online 50 as a new customer but not as an upgrade. What ever happened to be rewarded for loyalty? |

I think they've changed the contracts a little. Before Online 50 had 500 free sms on 12 months, last time I checked it only had 250 I think. |

Not that keen on the 18 month contract deals, just to long to keep a phone for and certainly dont wanna be splashing out 50 quid a month for the twelve month. Currently have an O2 K750i paying 30 quid a month, contract is up now, what do think my chances are of upgrading to k800 with the same monthly spend???

they'll defininitely let you have it on the same spend, they may even upgrade your tariff if you push it enough.
two years ago i took out a contract as such,
100 mins, 500 texts, k700 free £25 month
then last year i managed to upgrade to 400 mins, 1000 txts and a free w800i for £30month
this year i am going to try and get keep the same tariff, but try and get a data bundle added in, as once i have 3g i imagine i will use a load of bandwidth, so maybe 10/20mb a month free would be nice, and a free k800.
as long as you reason with them and are polite, and let them know you will leave if they don't match what 'someone else has offered you'
then you can get pretty much whatever you like within reason. |

Yeah I've just checked it and you are right I get 500 text and the new online 50 you only get 200. But I can live with that. Why couldn't they just say, OK, you can have the phone for £50 but on your tariff you have to drop down to 200 text? I would off done that, it would of saved them and me hassle of having to cancel one contract and start another. |

Its always been the same with O2 when you come to upgrading, they'll always try to charge more for a handset you can get cheaper by starting a fresh contract.
Its even more difficult when you want to upgrade your contract from a standard O2 contract, to an O2 online contract or vice versa. O2 contracts and O2 online contracts are actually direct competitors (sounds weird, but they're completely different parts of the O2 company that compete internally with each other) which is why they'll not offer you anything cheaper on a contracts.

Just how do you bargain for better deals with them? I might give it a try! |

right, decide what you would like compared to what you are currently on, last year i was on 200 mins and 500 texts, but decided i'd like more texts.
then ring them and ask about upgrading, they're likely to tell you they'll try and get your bill down a bit, tell them you're not interested and you're completely happy with your current tarriff (even if you're not) and tell them you're only interested in upgrading your handset.
they'll then ask what handset you'd like, tell them that you'd like a k800, at which point they'll tell you they've no stock, ask when stock will be in, and if they say more than two weeks, tell them that phones 4 u or 3 have said that they will have them in on the 26th, and are offerring you the phone free of charge with a new contract, and you just wondered what your current service provider (i presume it's o2) is offering, as you really would like to stay with them. they will then probably ask you what else phones 4 u/3 are offering, tell them they are offering you whatever you like, it's usually a good bet to say just under double what you're currently on for just over £5 more than you currently pay (remember you've got to make it beleivable)
they'll then say that they can't match the deal but can offer you such and such. if you're not happy with it, just tell them that you'd like to be put through to cancellations, as it makes more sense to go with someone else who is offering a better deal, even though you would have like to stayed with o2 (or whoever it is).
they'll then either just give you your pac code, which is valid for 14 days or something like that, or they'll go and speak with someone higher up, and likely come back with an ace offer.
if they don't, gracefully take your pac and then leave it a week, then come back and speak to them again and see what they say in a weeks time.
there you go sailors. |

Why not take all this about what contract to pick in another thread? It's getting a little annoying.
