As someone who regularly uses android beam, having NFC on the front is a terrible idea. If I have to put my phone face to face with another to activate the beam how can I touch the screen on the sending device? Makes no sense.
However, I do not think that is the actual position of the NFC for 3 reasons:
- The NFC mark is clearly a sticker not etched into the case which means it could just be placed there to mislead us
- The NFC coil is much bigger in radius than the bezel area there. Unless they've re-invented the technology it simply won't fit.
- Reason stated above. It simply makes no sense from a usability point of view. Anybody who has used NFC regularly realises that the best place for it is centered on the back of the device (at least horizontally centered). Tried using NFC on Z Ultra? It's horrible to align because it's not centered.

Having an arc design means making the top and bottom fatter so they could reduce the height and cram more junk into the extra bulk area. It really depends on how subtle the arc is in the first place. Also, how would you get that fingerprint reader on the side without making it look crap? Interesting to see how it works out. Anything about a possible SW4? |

I think the phone can detect NFC when its faced up. So not necessary to flip the phone. |

The only previous Sony devices, handsets or tablets, to work upside or down for NFC was Z2 Tablet I think, maybe, maybe not even that.
I remember Google made a big deal about their Nexus 10 being active front and back for NFC, and actually being usable front and back is very useful for tablets.

excited for IFA after seeing this leak. i'm very curious about the new camera implementation. i hope they produce something that will shut people up already since i've always had very good camera results from my phones.
seems a bit big for my tastes as I like to use my phone with one hand, so hopefully it's not so bad. can't tell how big it really is.
i do like the tube design and the color is great. the back bottom portion seems like plastic or an antenna line. usb C is great but guess that means buying new cables and chargers.

I love the new colour too, new colours like the rose and lime gold X and XA are helping the phones get noticed so hopefully Sony will be bold with some different colours again like this dark blue colour and maybe a few others too.

Yes. I like the tube design. Luckily I'm still holding on my Z1.

@myP910 - me too man. that's why i'm really looking forward to IFA. i don't think my z1 is going to last that much longer. it's getting slow, signal is spotty at times, wifi cuts out, and it's all banged up from all the times i've dropped it! after i swapped out the battery for a new one, it has served me very well. but it'll be 3 years in september. it's time to upgrade

Btw do you know that the Xperia X series have the NFC detection on the front ? Why is it not possible then ? |

I've just tried android beam from my Xperia X to my Z4 Tablet and with both devices back to back it worked without issue first time. Maybe it's down to the devices being relatively thin that helps.

Or somebody else is already on full retard mode
@goldenface
How would you rate Nodars crediblity?
BTW guyz just finished reading GSmarena review of XA ultra and they officially crowned it's selfie cam the best ever on any smartphone while a week back phonearena review complained that it's just average and in some areas below average.so go figure how much trust you can put into reviews. I know I said this thousand times but only reviews that I trust are my own usage plus android central
