So what is best initial care. Should you charge the battery immediately or discharge. If I understand it correctly the first charges should be very long. Grateful for tips.

Yes the alpha numeric can be used to txt and does show letters. Its only the dial pad that doesn't show the letters.
Will a phone manufacturer give us personalised txt alerts as a standard feature plz!

Hi Everyone

So I finally bought the Satio yesterday, haven’t had much time to play with it yet apart from send a few texts, but have to say my initial thoughts are that of disappointment. I’ve just changed from a c905, and as a big texter all the features i was used to have disappeared, such as conversation view, recently texted list, and the Satio doesn’t even have Smiley/Emoticon support!
I had a lot of trouble with my c905 like most people, I think i was on my 7th model, but when it did work it was amazing, and it just feels like I’ve gone from a smooth working easy to use interface, to something basic and clumbersome, I’m having a lot of trouble with the resistive screen as well, i didn’t really believe the horror stories i had read, but using it for myself is driving me mad! I’m really having to press hard, and sometimes it doesn’t respond until I’ve pressed it about 5 times!

Starting to regret buying it now I think 

Although i would recommend to anyone wanting to buy it, Dont buy it sim-free it’s around £500, i got mine from the carphone warehouse on pay as you go for £400, It’s exactly the same as sim free, unlocked with no branding, but they bundle an orange sim card with it, so it really is alot cheaper.

1) Recalibrate your screen. Make sure you press very lightly when you do so.

2) In your 5th standby panel tab, there's an app called conversations. That's what you use for threaded messaging.

3) No smileys in S60. Hopefully SE would release a smiley pack.

I can relate with the fact that the S60 screens look basic compared to A200 though.

Thats why I am personally more interested in the Aino.i dont have much use for a smartphone and the 3 inch screen is big enough for me. I will also be upgrading from c905.

Also I cannot get google maps to work, It says you need a data connection to use this service, even though it is all set up and I have the internet working on the phone.

There are 3 options, Exit, Change connection and retry, and if i try to click change connection or retry it just re- loads of the error screen and doesn’t do anything.

Starting to get annoyed with this phone now!

No idea why your google maps isn't working. Are you trying it over wifi or 3G? If I'm not mistaken, you can't use wifi for it.

Thanks for your quick response.

Yeah trying it over 3G, I have full signal as well, it just goes straight to the error screen and when I click the options to change or re-try the connection it just re-loads the error screen saying i have no data connection without doing anything.
Btw the wise pilot sat nav app is up and working no problems.

I’m at work at the moment so don’t have much time to mess around with it much, but i guess I’ll try and master re-set when I get home, but I’m just becoming seriously unimpressed with this phone now, and starting to regret buying it after looking forward to its release for so long.

It just may be that your phone's settings for accessing internet may not be right. Call up your operator, ask them to send you the new settings over the air, install them, reboot and try google maps again.

My Satio's internet worked perfectly from the word go; but the MMS settings that the phone autoloaded weren't right and I had to ask the carrier to send them. See if this is the case with you.

Lastly, I advice you to spend a bit more time getting to know the phone better. Coming from A200, S60 is quite the change and even with SE's customization, there are things we'll miss (I miss the phone status display, for e.g.). But once you get to grips with it, S60 is quite powerful and can do some neat stuff.

@synn... i'd like to know what you mean by your comment in regards to pictures only as good as camerman...

I use the Satio as a phone mainly. I have my DSLR cam for my proper pics... of which i take a lot! I have been on National TV in regards to my images and won twice at the Stefan Buzcakley Photography competitions in the North West. So comments about only as good as camera person is tosh... if the camera is nto upto scratch then the images wont be up to scratch either. And suject of image is personal tastes.

I'm gonna have a tinker round with the settings on the phone today as only shot them in auto mode and they were full un edited images... just point and click.

A Lithium Ion (or Lithium Polymer) battery needs no conditioning. It will have a near full charge from the factory, but may take a few charges to get to full power.. but that's about it.

@voda_jon: Absolutely no offense meant, my friend. What I meant was that the camera sees what the cameraman wants to see. Perhaps I should have worded it better.

I'm a photographer too and I know very well that photography is subjective. Trust me, as long as you're happy with your pictures, there's not one opinion you should heed to.

Again, apologies if it came across in the wrong sense.
