Not completely X1 related, but as many of you know, Asus and Lamborghini has made their phone ZX1. It is a Windows Mobile 6.1 based phone. Notice in this video taht the user interface is COMPLETELY different. This can mean Sony Ericsson X1 might have a consistant Xperia Panel UI rather than regular Windows Mobile.

ZX1's UI is probably the Carousel interface as mentioned from Wikipedia. it seems like 6.1 is like a 6.0 with a WM7 interface and it highly resembles the beryl interface seen on Ubuntu linux OS. seems like microsoft choosed to rather copy the 3D cube from Beryl instead of their very own AERO UI.
and since ZX1 has shown some the internals of the WM6.1 UI, can we now see the entire UI of the X1? i wanted to see the XMB UI mroe further and how the panels work further as well

Does this device have real handwriting recognition like that provided with the IPAQ's? or is it like that on the P series up to now?
Does the HWR system work in both "closed" and "open" modes?
What is the WM Media Player like?
I liked the HWR system on my old IPAQ BUT disliked shocking battery life, constantly hanging OS and poor media support. Have these issues been addressed in the version of WM supplied with the X1.

almost certainly the answers to these questions will be that it used the existing windows mobile inputs and existing WMP.
since getting keyboards on my windows mobile devices I almost never use handwriting any more, but it was more than acceptable though I did use to use caligrapher
As for WM stability, I'll assure you that since WM5 its been very stable and I almost never hit the soft reset button any more unlike the old days which was 2-3 times a day

I was just checking on the site can see no mention of upgradeable storage, the ESATO Phone page gives no mention of additional storage just 400Mg phone storage! Is this correct? if so bye bye X1
One other worry is there is no mention of "fast port" does this mean yet another type of charger for home and car? if so can forget it!

Thanks guys
So to recap have decided their loyal (and patient) customers who buy the SEX1 ( a misnomer) will now have to buy:
All new storage media (they could have adopted standard media a long-time ago!)
All new chargers (why intro fast port then?)
All new application SW (I was right, their developers do not have clue about writing decent SW, so move to WM)
And we are supposed to be getting excited? what a joke, This is pushing my tolerance and loyalty just a bit too far.

yup. certainly am.
but I'll review that when the X1 actually gets close to becoming available when I see what else is on the market
fortunately I already have micro SD's (8gb) bought for my TyTN II and K850, I also have several mini USB chargers and sync/charge cables and plenty of free and paid apps that I already use daily

doesn't it have 3.5mm port anyway? (for using standard headphones).
As to the complaint that fastport not compatible, keep in mind it uses usb mini-plug which is far more common than fastport and accessories will be cheap and abundant. I mean, you'll be able to use ANY usb to usbmini plug lead you have lying around (from your digicam, removeable harddrive, usb huib etc that uses usb mini plug).
Believe me you won't miss the fastport when you have such a common port in instead.

yeah. max_wedge is right. It is time to move away from the proprietary sh*te that SE is forcing on buyers. Existing SE users should take a one-time pain and write off these accessories.

its odd that X1 doesn't support M2.
could have been better if it has dual memory card support ala k850.
but just the same, x1 is a thing of beauty.
can't wait for it to become available
