Is it confirmed now that the Compact will indeed have a 4.8" screen? |

I agree, I think the one on the back is simply for the model with a narrow side bezel. A shame about Apple having the patent for the side fingerprint sensor on the power button. Unless they play nice the Xperias will continue to be gimped in the USA
As someone wrote here that the bezelless design does not leave a place for the sensor on the side,
As I see on the images ... the bezel is as big as before.
p.s
I do not think Apple has any patent on it...

@josephnero: Cheers!
@pt020: I share your opinion. The downside could be the influence on the thinness of the phone. Could be, because I’m not sure if this is really holding them back and if it does, to what extent. For me this isn’t an issue, but for some it might actually be. The upsides could be no camera bump and bigger battery for example. In my eyes this is a rather fair compromise.
On my ZX the sensor is not even 4 mm wide, there is a place for 2 of them.
and there is no Sony with main camera in the middle... near the led you also have a laser for focus that here is missing.
To me it looks like an LG Photoshop.
If Apple had a patent they would have used it before... the patent has nothing to do with the sensor place but with other rights.

Well the whole Apple fingerprint thing was going around a couple months ago

How true it is, who knows. Either way, hopefully this matter gets settled soon so review sites have 1 less thing to complain about when reviewing Xperias |

Hmm... maybe if SONY can't fix distortion issues and don't implement full manual control then I will just get XZ Premium as I don't think G8341 has any charm.

Heh heh I've to give my Xperia XZ to my mother. Can't wait that long.
Is there is significant change in design and spec ? I don't think there's a new sensor or audio upgrade.

New info (XR4)
True: G8341 aka xz1 will have slightly broader bezel.
Also True: it will be slightly thicker
Reason behind: Battery capacity somewhat bigger, (abour 10% increase) |

That would make the battery capacity around 3200mAh which is a decent increase if you ask me. The XZ already had great battery life but with a more energy efficient CPU and a larger capacity it should be brilliant.
If true I'm pleased Sony have increased the thickness to allow for a larger battery rather than joining the race for the world's thinnest phone.
I'm so happy 'cause today I've found my friends ... They're in my head

You're the only one. Mass client wants slimmer body because it's easier to hold. Somehow Huawei managed to squeeze 3200mAh battery in a fairly compact and slim phone (P10). |
