People, there is absolutely no confirmation whatsoever of se, or sony for that matter, manufacturing a 8mp camera module for a cellphone ! ! ! Both my emails to sony got negative answers ! Please,if anyone here has any serious prove of such module, post it here. I am not only into cellphones but miniature cameras too. I visit camera/surveliance forums and yes I have plenty confirmation regarding the Samsung 'hitech' 8mp 'micro' modul, but none about sony/se Does it use a cmos or ccd sensor? What is the pixel size? What is the overall size? etc etc.
let me introduce you ICX636/646 Series by Sony...

K850 sensor is IMX-020 (6.52mm diagonal). The phone focal length is 5.18mm. hmm
Focal Length is different thing to do with Sensor Size.
IMX-020 sensitivity is 57 mV (175 mV Saturation Signal), while ICX-636 sensitivity is 165 mV (420 mV Saturation Signal). Hope to see a hell lot less noise
Keep in mind, that ICX-636/646 has been announced around April 2008 in Japan, while C905 announced in June.
I still don't know if C905 will use ICX-636 or not. Hope it will.
ICX-636/646/612 technical data: http://www.sony.net/Products/[....]_news/vol49/pdf/icx636_646.pdf
It would be good if Sony using ICX-612CQZ (12.1 MP, 9.3mm diagonal.) Maybe for the next year Cybershot

If the i-mobile 902 was able to use a CCD lens which provided by Sony, why SE didn't do the same thing with the Cyber-Shot Series? If they done this early on, then image quality of CS phones will not be questionable. |

Hey Guys,
To recap ... the C905 will start shipping end August, Beginning Sep worldwide so that the samsung would not get too much of the cake.
Then it would be upto the respective couriers in your countries of origin how quickly they introduce it to you guys.
Countries who don't require operator based assistance will get it far quicker then those countries that would be operator based.

That's good to hear.
I hope you right about the CCD sensor, Because beside eldar also smape told that 8510i will beat C905 in almost every respect (expect xenon flash ) and it means also in picutre quality I think =/ |

There are no working i8510 samples available in Russia, so we were really surprised to learn of one of our homolugues examining the casing of a defunct prototype, and even publishing his judgments on its camera quality. Anyway samples will arrive soon, so we will be able to do an in-depth review.

How can the samsung INNOV8 beat the C905 when it hasn't even taken a pic as yet ... as Smape has stated there is no working sample available and the proto-types available are defunct. I was reading on Smape and they keep mentioning there comrade ... making numerous mistakes and being too judgemental and making rash and quick judgements.
It will be more like C905 will beat the INNOV8 ... in the pic department.
The strengths of the INNOV8 is it's video rec. VGA @ 30FPS and the dedicated Audio card for 3D stereo sound. Apart from that it just about offers everything the C905 offers minus the 2 mentioned above.
Remember even SE can add all those gizmose in there handset but then you would be paying 700 Euros for it, whereas right now your paying about 550 Euros for it and Samsung when released will be like 670-680 Euros ... so now, what is better ... Do you want to really feel a dent in your wallet or a slight pinch.
I leave the choice to you.

nice point macks2005.
It really doesnt worth the 200 euro more for DSP chip and VGA recording video.
C905 looks really promise now specially when it'll have better pic quality than 8510i and also xenon flash for less money.
